Gaumukh Tapovan Trek Climbers on their
expeditions to the Shivling peak and the
Bhagirathi top stay here at the base camp and a
final destination for the Gangotri trekking. In
the morning, enjoy panoramic views of the
Bhagirathi peaks and breakfast, then start your
hike to the summit of Gaumukh ( 3890mt ), which
is the origin of the Ganga and Tapovan. Gaumukh
is the glacier's origin to give birth to the
Ganges, and Tapovan is the powerful peak of
Garhwal. From chirbasa you continue your hike to
Bhoibasa, the whole trail crosses a dense forest,
you reach Bhojbasa, there is a small temple and a
potential campsite near the river. Gangotri is a
challenging hike in the heart of the Himalayas,
from Gangotri to Gaumukh. Gangotri, the largest
Himalayan Glacier, is surrounded by the
Bhagirathi III, Meru, Shivling and Thalay Sagar
Peaks. Swachand, Miandi, Sumeru and Ghanohim are
some other tributary that form the
Gangotri. Sudarshan Parbat is located 21, 345
feet above the forest checkpoint, making it an
exceptional sight on the first day of the
hike. Gangotri and Yamunotri Glaciers are
considered to be one of the most difficult hikes
in the himalayas.

Gaumukh Tapovan trek is a charming, adventurous
and divine journey to the source of the Ganga,
the most sacred river. From Gangotri, the hike
leads you to Gaumukh, where you can see the Ganga
from the rocky mountains. Usually pilgrims will
do Gangotri - Bhojbasa in one phase, leave the
Gaumukh on the second and return to Bhojbasa for
the night, ending the walk back to Gangotri on
the third. Hikers can also take a short weekend
trip such as Tibba's Nag ( 15 - 20 days earlier )
to prepare for a hike at great heights such as
Gaumukh - Tapovan. Gaumukh, is the base of the
famous Gangotri and the Chatturangini glacier,
which leads to Tapovan and nandanwan. After
breakfast we will drive up to Gangotri on
Bhatwari, Gangnani, Sukhitop, Harsil and Bhairon
Ghati. After breakfast, you will descend quickly
to Chirvasa, where you will find an endless hike
through the moraine and large rocks to Gaumukh,
and then take a gradual descent to a beautiful
Chirvasa camp surrounded by pine trees.

Dehradun
  • Dehradun is the closest location for our basecamp
trek is linked to most of India's state and city.
  • Bhojbasa is the largest point in the upper
valley, and the campsite here at night offers a
magnificent view of the Bhagirathi peaks.
  • It is Tapovan, an exquisitely irrigated place
from which the fabulous top of Shivling seems to
sweep away in a wave of silt, granite and snow.
