Title: Learn About Different Types of Pool Filters
1Learn About Different Types of Pool Filters
2The pool filtration system keeps your swimming
pool clear of undissolved dirt and debris.
3It is considered one of the primary cleaning
elements and so, you must choose the right one to
have a clean pool and not a dirty one.
4The pool filter is the component that cleans the
water as it passes through from the drains and
then pushed back into the swimming pool through
the return gates.
5There are mainly three different types of pool
filters having their own advantages and
disadvantages.
6Sand filter
7A sand filter is a large canister consisting of a
base compound of silica that traps dirt and
debris as water is forced through it.
8There are two types of sand filters used for
swimming pools. The most common is the high-rate
sand filter, and the other is a rapid-rate sand
filter.
9The pool water enters from the top and is pushed
down through beds of sand inside the filtering
tank and the sharp edges of the sand particles
hold the impurities back, and pure water flows
out from the bottom.
10The sand filters are durable and can be easily
maintained as the filters are back-washed for
cleaning purpose.
11Cartridge filter
12 Cartridge filters use replaceable paper or
fabric-like pleated cartridges as their filter
medium they have a large surface volume to
catch whatever the water pushes through them.
13A cartridge filter generally has one cartridge
and for a larger cleaning area, some models may
have multiple cartridges inside the tank.
14 A cartridge filter has filtering elements in the
shape of cylinders, made of polyester, that acts
as excellent filtering surface.
15 These filters are the most expensive as well as
most efficient than the others but, the cartridge
filters are a bit hard to maintain.
16DE filter
17 The DE filters use diatomaceous earth matter,
which is naturally occurring sedimentary rock
crushed into a very fine white powder.
18DE filters work by forcing water through the
diatomaceous earth, which traps the debris and
algae and these upright cylinder tanks have long,
half-moon, rectangular shaped grids.
19 Water flows through the tank then passes through
the DE filter. It then passes through the filter
grids and finally into the manifold before
returning to the swimming pool.
20 These filters are cleaned by the process of
back-washing in which the water flows in a
reverse direction and removes the dirt
accumulated in the filter.
21Take a note
22 The filter is regarded as the last line of
defense in trapping debris on a constant basis
and keeping it out of your swimming pool.
23The choice of best filter for one is a matter of
one's requirements and the effort one is ready to
put in to clean and modify a filter to increase
its efficiency.
24When you are having your own swimming pool, then
having some knowledge about the pool's filtration
system will help you better care and maintain it.
