The benchtop water cooler or filter is a popular
feature in many homes and offices. A countertop
water filter converts ordinary mains water into
clean, great tasting, scent free drinking water.
It
stands to reason that by enhancing the quality of
drinking water, people will be inclined to drink
it
more often.
3
This is particularly important when you consider
that
the vast majority of us dont regularly consume 8
glasses per day as recommended by health
authorities. Lack of hydration can result in
tiredness
or even more serious health-related consequences.
So, from both a family health perspective as well
as
office efficiency or peak performance perspective,
filtered hydration makes great sense.
4
Where the benchtop water filtration plays a
significant role, is in terms of flexibility and
convenience. This is especially true when it comes
to confined spaces. Countertop coolers come into
their very own where floor space is at a premium
and bench space is available. Situations, where
this
may apply, include small kitchens, offices and
even
caravans. Benchtop filtration units can be taken
away on holidays to ensure that large amounts of
hydration quality are maintained.
5
So in the event that someone decides that a
desktop water filtration unit is directly for
them, how
would they decide which brand or model to
purchase? There are many things to search for
when purchasing a countertop water cooler. Some
of the choices will be personal, for example, the
look
or design of the particular unit. Other factors
will
apply irrespective of the look of the water
filtration
system.
6
In the first place, most benchtop models have a
water storage bottle sitting to finish everything.
These water bottles are filled with mains water
from
the tap. The untreated water then goes through a
filtration process and is then stored as filtered
water
internally where it is also chilled. The size of
the
water bottles can vary however typically range
from
3.1 liters to 4.2 liters. Preferences vary
depending
on the potential demand for water according to
individual circumstances.
7
However, some people prefer to manage without a
water bottle and connect their desktop filtration
unit
directly to the mains water supply. This clearly
involves a forthright pipes expense yet the
benefit is
in not having to refill bottles. Larger
filtration units,
say 4 liters and above, generally have greater
capacity levels in two important areas.
Initially, their
cooling rates will be greater than smaller units.
Small water filters generally cool at around 1
liter
per hour whereas larger systems will typically
double this rate. Secondly, larger units will
usually
filter more water before the water filter
cartridges
require changing. Typically, a larger countertop
water cooler will require replacing after
treating 600
liters of water. This represents about 4 times the
levels recommended by smaller systems.
8
Modern benchtop water cooler and filters come in a
variety of shapes and styles. White plastic bases
with blue water bottles are still very popular,
as are
stainless steel looking units that blend into a
more
contemporary environment. Either way, there will
undoubtedly be a desktop water cooler to suit most
needs and tastes. Ultimately, it is all about the
taste
and enjoyment of cool, clean, filtered water. A
benchtop water filter allows where available space
may be limited.
