1
Principles, values, and motto of Freemasonry
2
  • Freemasonry is the worlds largest
fraternal organization based on the belief that
every man can contribute to bringing a positive
change in the world. The principles and values of
freemasons strengthen the character of an
    individual by providing opportunities for
    charity, education, and fellowship.
  •
  • Freemasonry always stands for fairness,
    non-discrimination, tolerance,
self-improvement, and support to the less
fortunate society. Freemasonry began when the
local organizations were formed by stonemasons to
take care of sick and injured members. These men
are considered the accepted masons who eventually
outnumbered the operative members of the
    organization.

3
Who are masons?
  • Masons are the members of the oldest and
largest fraternal organization of the world i.e.
the freemasonry. This organization teaches that
each man has a duty to make their as well as
others life better. Whether it is helping to
clean up the environment or volunteering civic
projects - masons can bring a lot of positive
    changes in the society.
  •

4
Who are masons?
  • The members of Freemasonry must have belief
in the supreme creator of the universe. Men from
any ethnic background or religion can join the
Freemasonry. Like any other organization, the
values and objectives are privileged to the
    members only.
  •
  • Masons are given an opportunity to grow as
individuals and are challenged to make the world
a better place to live. Today, Freemasonry is
comprised of free and accepted masons who
follow the same principles of Freemasonry.
Although some of their activities may vary, their
core objectives and principles remain the same.

5
Principles of Freemasonry
  • There are n clear guidelines on the
principles of Freemasonry. We can summarize the
implied principles based on their activities and
services. A mason is subjected to civil powers
and is never concerned in the conspiracies
against the peace and welfare of the nation.
  •
  • There are three principles of Freemasonry
based on which the organization works. These
principles have been followed by the Freemasons
for many years. The key principles of Freemasonry
are - Charity, Truth, and Brotherly Love.

6
Truth
  • The masons strive for truth and aim to
achieve in their lives. They are taught to follow
high moral standards and values that help them
make a better person. This principle of
Freemasonry helps them achieve higher standards
in real life. The concept of truth has remained a
mystery among the philosophers as it has no
criterion and is not knowable by many.
  •
  • Some of the people had problems determining
what do you mean by truth? The conclusion is
that the truth is a divine attribute and
foundation of every virtue that includes charity,
love and brotherhood. To seek and find the truth,
the masons are taught how to purify their heart.

7
Brotherhood
  • Every freemason must show respect, love,
and tolerance for others. They should behave with
understanding and kindness to his fellow members.
Brotherhood is the greatest of all the virtues,
regardless of the religion. Brotherly love shows
the attempt to provide for the poorer sectors of
the society including slaves, orphans, widow etc.
  •
  • This principle of freemasonry enjoins the
masons to correct the irregularities of less
informed people and guard them against vicious
    practices.

8
Charity
  • Freemasons are taught to practice charity
for the community by either working as
individuals or voluntary efforts. According to
the principles of Freemasonry, the main aim of
Freemasons is to relieve the distressed,
sympathize their misfortunes, soothe the unhappy
and restore peace t their troubled minds.
  •
  • The masons used to meet in the lodges and
think freely about science, nature, ethical
    values and practice democratic governance.

9
Value of Freemasonry
  • There are many things about Freemasonry
that are unique. With millions of followers,
Freemasonry has contributed to the peace and
happiness to countless millions. It is a
charitable institution giving away millions of
dollars every day. This is a fraternity where men
develop talents and skills that are not taught in
    schools and colleges.

10
  • Masons do not believe in religion and hence
welcome men of all backgrounds. They practice a
lifestyle based on integrity, honour and
philanthropic values. According to freemasons -
there is more in life than money and pleasure.
  •
  • They strive to be better husbands and
fathers and include the families in many of their
activities. With a commitment to make a
difference in the world - they provide voluntary
services, community sevrices and take part in
    charitable activities.

11
Objective
  • Freemasonry has received a great amount of
recognition and attention. Being a combination of
myth and truth - it is considered one of the
controversial fraternities in the world. Being a
Freemason is a sought-after desire for those who
    consider it as a heritage.
  •
