Historical Places near Rajasthan
Amber Fort The beautiful gigantic fort traces
its roots to the 16th century when Man Sign I was
the ruler of Jaipur and started the construction
in 1592. After consistent hard work of
generations of laborers, architects and
designers Amber Fort got its finishing touch in
the 18th century, under the patronage of Sawai
Jai Singh. He also founded the city of Jaipur.

Jaipur City Palace With a series of large
courtyards, gardens and individual palaces, the
City Palace was the seat of the Maharaja of
Jaipur. As the head of the Kachwaha Rajput clan,
the rulers finely erected the enormous
construction and even hired the past masters of
building architecture and design. Just like the
Amber Fort, it also houses the Diwam-e-Aam and
Khas.Besides these, you shall also come across
the elegant Mubarak Mahal and Chandra Mahal. The
Maharani Palace, a space for Royal queens is
another delicate piece of architecture. Baggi
Khana, the palatial museum has a collection of
ancient palanquins, carriages and European cabs.
You will be surprised know that it was actually a
gift to the Maharaja given by the Prince of Wales
way back in 1876.

  Hawa Mahal The 'Palace of
Winds' as it is called was dedicated to women.
The idea behind its construction was to allow
flow of winds into and outside the palace. As
women remained indoors, the Mahal provided a
means for them to peep into the outside world.
All day long, they could see the bustling streets
and other activities from the screened windows. A
pure pink and red sandstone model, the Palace as
many as 953 windows and worldly interiors.
There's also a big courtyard, an imperial
fountain, royal doors and a museum. Overall, it
was a complete ladies domain where every Rajput
woman enjoyed her life in full spree and
independence.
