  • Quarantines files are those which is when
    scanned is found to be risky for the system.
    These quarantined items are stored in a secure
    location on the system and are blocked by
    the McAfee to use it in future. Sometimes, the
    correct files are also marked to be risky by the
    software but you can remove or restore these
    wrongly detected items.

If you are using a computer or a Mac
  • Open your computer and double-click on the McAfee
    Securitys icon to open it.
  • Locate the cog wheel icon on the top right of the
    window and select Quarantined and Trusted Items.
  • Now, open Quarantined Items for single files and
    Quar. Potentially unwanted Programs for programs.
  • Choose particular files or Select all at once. 
  • Choose Restore if you wish to restore the items
    from quarantine or Delete to remove the item from
    the present list.

  • Note If the files you chose were previously
    detected as risk during scan, then you can delete
    them form the trusted list. This can be done as
    clicking Trusted Items option, select the item
    and then Remove From Trust List.

If you are using a computer or a Mac
  • Turn on your Mac device and open McAfee product
    on it.
  • Click McAfee Live Safe internet security console
    and then select Mac Security.
  • Go to Quarantine option and then click the
    padlock icon.
  • Enter the password and then click OK button.
  • Now, choose the location, or hold down the Shift
    key to select the multiple locations.
  • Now, choose Restore to backup the items
    or Delete to remove the items.
  • Select the lock icon to prevent the further
    changes.

  • When you recover those files then it will be
    found on the original location. But, the same
    file can be detected again as the potential
    threat. So, if it is important to work on that
    file then disable the Real-time scan for the
    temporary basis. Please make sure to disable it
    temporarily and not permanently otherwise, it
    will lead to further risk and damage to the
    system.
