Sitting at an altitude of 3542m above sea level
near Indo-Chinese border, Ladakh serves as an
ideal getaway for the daredevil travelers who
wish to pack themselves away into an unknown land
replete with serenity. The high altitude of
Ladakh offers lots of opportunities for adventure
lovers like mountaineering, trekking, hiking and
rope climbing. Surrounded by two of worlds
great mountain ranges, the great Himalaya and the
Karakoram, the landscape of Leh is a rare
combination of mountains, terrains, deserts and
lakes which leaves the tourists stunned with its
untouched natural beauty. There are many
attractive places which are worth a visit during

Leh Palaces, Leh
Leh Palace is situated on a secluded hill called
Tsemo hill. Also known as Lhachen Palkhar, this
palace used to be the residence of a royal family
from Leh. The palace is painted with hues of grey
and gold which looks fabulous against the clear
blue sky. Built in the 17th century, this
nine-story palace has a museum where objects
belonging to the royal family are put on display
and is an integral part of Leh Ladakh travel
packages.

Pangong Lake
Pangong Lake is the most beautiful saltwater lake
lying at a height of 4350 m and is spread over an
area of 100 km part of which lies in Tibet. The
lake possesses a charming emerald blue color
offering some of the best views with tall
mountains standing near its shores. In winters,
this lake freezes and
becomes a venie for ice skating. Tourists have to
obtain permits to visit the lake during the
winter season.

Shanti Stupa, Leh
This is one of the old Tibetian structures in
Leh. The beauty of this place is unexplainable
and it serves great significance in the Buddhist
religion. Its close proximity to Leh airport
makes it a highly visited area in Leh. The
highlight of this place is the 500 staircases
which you have to climb to reach the main temple.
The walls of the Stupa are embedded with gilt
panels which give a peek into the life of Lord
Buddha.

Tso Moriri Lake
This lake is the largest alpine lake in India
lying at a height of 15000ft above sea level. It
lies on a secluded spot in the great Himalayan
range and has crystal clear waters which can only
be seen during the summer season as this is the
only time when tourists are allowed in this part.
Korzok monastery
situated near the western part of the lake is
another reason to visit this spot. The travel
agents provide stay in tents or guest houses
around the lake to the tourists in their Ladakh
tour.

Chang La Pass
Hailed as one of the highest mountain passes in
the world, this pass remains wrapped in a thick
cover of snow for the most part of the year.
Another thing that makes it stand apart from
other snow-laden passes is that it is the third
highest motorable
passes in the world. This pass is protected and
secured by the Indian army and the visitors get a
chance to sip tea served by army men. There is a
shrine dedicated to Chang la baba near the pass.

Nubra Valley
Nubra is a tri-armed valley that is located in
the north-east of Ladakh valley. It is one of the
most interesting places in Leh Ladakh as you get
to experience the life of people living in this
cold desert.
This place has beautiful white sands and the best
way to witness its glory is to go on a camel
safari.

Zanskar Valley
Zanskar valley is well known for its wide angled
hills and scenic landscapes. The numerous
terrains lying around this valley offer the best
trekking experience and are hailed as one of the
most sought after trekking routes in India.
You can view the Drang glacier from the trekking
routes which is a great experience in itself.
