2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the day when
family planning was affirmed as a human right.
Ever since, organizations and governments across
the globe are coming together for a common goal
to spread awareness about family planning. With
over 7.6 billion people and just one habitable
planet, there is enormous pressure on Earth to
cater to our needs. Resources are depleting at a
rapid rate, while humankind continues to face
various health disorders, scarcity of food and
water, and rampant natural disasters. It is thus
imperative to lay emphasis on family planning and
educate people about birth control measures. This
will not just help address issues related to
overpopulation, but also empower the people to
improve their standard of living.
3
Lets understand this with a study of two
imaginary families A and B. Family A has three
members. The parents are educated and employed,
and the child goes to a good school with access
to many facilities. This family has decent
savings. Family B, on the other hand, has 6
members. The parents are educated and employed,
and the children do go to school, but the
facilities they get pale in comparison. This
family has little or no savings. In a nutshell,
smaller families equal bigger gains. To make
this a win-win situation for the entire nation, a
large number of people need suitable employment.
In case there arent sufficient jobs, one can
expect a decline in the quality of life led by
our youth. This in turn will give birth to
another set of challenges for our society,
including cases of depression and mental
disorders.
4
To do our bit for the greater good, Ponty Chadha
Foundation trains young guns from less privileged
families at Sardar Kulwant Singh Chadha Skills
Academy. As a result, the youth not only learns
skills and becomes employable, it also ends up
earning a decent living for themselves and their
families. Also Read Importance of Skills
