First of all you will need to open the new
version of QuickBooks

Then go to File and choose Open or Restore Company

Now select Open a company file and then click on
Next

Choose your data file and click Open
Now If QB displays the window of Move Company
File, read it and follow the instructions

Go through the information in the Update Company
File for New Version window, click the check box
to show that you understand and then select
update Now.
Go through the instruction to back up your
company file and remember where you put it.

Now a message will appear saying You are about
to open a company file using a newer version of
QuickBooks.Do you want to continue? appears,
choose Yes.
Now when the company file is updated go through
these steps

• Keep the backup in a safe place until you are
  sure that you will not need it again
• If you have copied the data file from another
  computer to update it, copy it back again
• By following the mentioned steps, you will be
  able to update your company file without any
  trouble.
