Title: HOW DO I DECIDE ON A CONCEPT FOR MY RESTAURANT?

1
HOW DO I DECIDE ON A CONCEPT FOR MY RESTAURANT?
  • Deciding a concept for your Restaurant is
definitely like finding the right name for your
new born baby. Your entire Restaurant Business
will revolve under that very concept you choose
from and the rest of the things from menu to
Interior will all be the by-product that follows.

2
  • Before choosing the concept and Interior Design
for your Restaurant, you need to ask certain
    questions to yourself.
  • What type of food is my Restaurant going to
    target?
  • Who are going to be my Customers?
  • What is the price range I am going to offer?
  • Once you know the answer for these questions, you
are pretty much ready to progress with the
    concept definition for your Restaurant.

3
Can the Restaurants Be Classified?
  • Of Course, the Restaurants can and should be
categorized. Only when you know the
classifications, you can pick from the list as to
how your Restaurant should be and that will mark
the starting point for your success.
  • In general, Restaurants can be categorized as,
  • Quick-Serve
  • Fast-Casual
  • Casual and
  • Fine Dining
  • And there is café and food trucks that also comes
under this list. Lets now go through each of the
types and learn more about them.

4
Quick Serve
  • Quick Serve Restaurants are more of a fast food
based eatery where people stop by to grab
something yummy real quick. The price range is
usually less and very much affordable. Deploying
real good decors, chandeliers and furniture is
not a good idea because your customers are the
type of people who dont stop by to relax or
cherish the ambience but just to get something
    real quick.
  • For example, a dad and a son who might want to
pick something in a jiffy because the kid might
be getting late to his soccer practice. They
would just drop by to satiate the hunger. In this
case, what should be the key priority is the
quality and taste of the food and not the look
and feel of the place itself. Of course, it
should be clean and appealing but neednt be a
    class more.
  • For this type of Restaurant, something that is
fast with appetising wall colours, tempting
pictures of best-selling food and easily
accessible menu options are some of the ways how
you can deliver maximum satisfaction to your
customer and make them come back for more.

5
Fast-Casual Dining
  • Fast- casual dining is a little higher end
version of Quick serve Restaurants. Though people
do not always come to this kind of restaurant for
its quiet and peaceful ambience, food and
appearance definitely takes the top position in
    the list.
  • To sum up the requirement of a Fast Casual
Restaurant, it should offer these three items on
    the menu for sure
  • Quality
  • Comfort and
  • Modernism

6
Bigger spaces is not recommended for this type of
dining
  • The average footprint or measurement can be below
5000 square feet and a little more than 3000
square feet. But this space has to be utilized
effectively. From the positioning of the chairs
to the accessibility of food, everything has to
communicate a sense of modern awareness and to
add more icing on the cake, structure the place
well enough to convey a small story or theme.
  • Usage of vivid paintings and wall hangings that
are appetizing and modern create an appealing
sensation for your customers and make them feel
welcomed and special. Fast-casual dining is not
about space but it is about how effectively you
utilize the space to communicate the quality and
    food to your customer.

7
Casual
  • Casual Dining is gaining a lot of momentum in the
recent times. Every now and then a Casual Dining
Restaurant opens up, thereby making it totally
essential to add a unique and distinctive element
    to your place.
  • Generally, the atmosphere in a Casual Eatery is
relaxed and friendly. People stop by to have a
comfortable, relaxed dinner with family or
    friends. Therefore,
  • Quality
  • Experience
  • Interior
  • Menu
  • Ambience
  • Theme or Concept

8
  • Are all a definite must! The interior has to be
designed well enough to tie your Restaurants
Brand Identity and Concept in a thoroughly
strategized manner. It should have a proper flow
and function associated with the food your serve.
Right from the menu card to the staff uniforms
and the spacing of the table, every single thing
works the magic in making your customers to come
    back to you.
  • Having a concept and structuring the entire theme
around it is a very good idea. Or, you can even
go with the menu specialization. If you feel your
Restaurant specializes in a particular cuisine,
then structuring the entire fit outs and interior
based on that is a very good way to win your
    Customers attention.

9
Fine Dining
  • The higher end version of Restaurant Experience
is the Fine Dining, where every single thing has
to be given its utmost importance. Not only is
quality the key to make your Customers want you,
there is more to it, in fact a lot more to it.
  • Experience is the King when it comes to Fine
Dining. People come to a place like this seeking
to experience something really remarkable wanting
to create unforgettable memories. With this being
the case, your Service and Restaurant has to
cater for every requirement of the Customer. You
have to offer more than what is expected of you
    to build the niche.
  • Lighting, window size, flooring, table
    arrangements, silverware, menu design,
description and naming of the food,
wall-hangings, staff uniforms, tiniest of the
hand tissue matters. Every single entity has to
be given 100 attention to deliver the
    exceptional experience.
  • Whatever concept you choose, make sure that
concept conveys the message across to your
customers and just like you dont compromise when
it comes to Quality, likewise make sure not to
compromise on Customer Experience which can be
achieved through proper Interior Designs and fit
    outs.
