  should never ignore is the safety of yourself and
  your gear when you are out there.

Reach your location before dark

• The first thing to consider is to reach your
  location before dark. That way you will have time
  to get accustomed to the location you will be
  shooting at. This will also help you in scouting
  for the best composition for your image. You are
  going to spend quite a few hours at this location
  during the night time so make sure you are well
  informed about your surroundings.

Send your location map to your team

• Inform someone that you are going to stay
  there during the night. Not only you should
  inform your friends and family about your
  location, you should also inform the nearest
  local people around. Again, you will be able to
  do this, if you reach before dark. When I plan
  for a star trail shoot, I try to get connected
  with someone in the nearby vicinity. .

Carry the right accessories for night
photography, Find the place and safety comfort

• Carry all the important accessories with you,
  like a tent. do not forget the tent light. Carry
  sufficient water for the night A sleeping bag if
  you are staying all night, warm clothes. Torch
  light and a good pair of shoes

Do not make lost of noise when you are out there
remote location in the night

• Do not make a lot of noise while you spend
  your time at a remote place in the dark. Lets
  admit, its not an outdoor party and you probably
  will be at locations rarely visited by very few
  people. The quieter you get your job done, the
  better results you will have.

Tag along a friend for company.

• Ask your friends to accompany you for the
  shoot. Other Photographer friends will be more
  than happy to be with you. For someone who is not
  into photography, you can promise an adventurous
  night out.
