  • She was not only a part of a reputed business
    family of India, but she devoted her life to the
    welfare of the country.

The early life of the socialite
  • Born to a couple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu in 1948,
    Rajashree Birla studied at St. Joseph's Convent
    school in Madurai.
  • According to customs of the south Indians, her
    marriage was conducted in two stages. First, her
    engagement was done with the grandson of
    industrialist Ghanashyam Birla, at the age of 10.
    And the age of 17 the final marriage ceremony was
    performed when she finally shifted to the Birla
    family.
  • Further, she got a degree in Arts from the
    renowned Loreto College, Kolkata.
  • Her excess devotion to Bhagwat Gita shows her
    inner spiritual soul. After her children were
    raised up, she devoted her life to social work
    and public welfare.

Her social contributions
  • Though she has done a countless number of social
    services, the following are few of her important
    associations
  • Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives
    Rural Development- She was the chairperson of
    this community. Through this, she has made
    numerous hospitals, schools for free and pays for
    the education of about 18000 students.
  • To give tribute to her late husband she also
    made a hospital form the Birla group, which is
    funded the Aditya Birla Foundation and managed by
    the ABCCIR.
  • The Rajashree Birla Profile also consists of
    several other social activities like Habitat for
    Humanity. She railed with a group of cricketers
    and collected 2 million dollars for the welfare
    of the association.
