Title: What is a Capacitor? Types of Capacitors?

1
What is a Capacitor? Types of Capacitors?
A capacitor is a passive two-terminal component
that stores electric charge. It consists of two
conductors and they separate the dielectric
medium.
2
Applications of Capacitor
Capacitors are used in several applications of
electronic circuits such as
  • Power supply smoothing
  • Audio frequency coupling
  • RF coupling capacitor
  • RF decoupling
  • Tuned circuit uses

Capacitance is measured in Farads symbolized as
F

How Capacitors Work
Inside the capacitor, the terminals connect to
two metal plates separated by a non-conducting
substance, or dielectric. You can easily make a
capacitor from two pieces of aluminum foil and a
piece of paper. It won't be a particularly good
capacitor in terms of its storage capacity, but
it will work.
