Introduction

• Some amount of food that a human consumes is
  turned into glucose. Pancreas secretes a hormone
  called insulin which breaks down the glucose into
  simpler substances for easy digestion. Diabetes
  is a condition where body either cannot use the
  insulin made by the pancreas in a proper way or
  does not make enough insulin for the body, which
  ultimately increases the sugar level in the blood.

Types of Diabetes

• There are three types of diabetes
• Type 1 Diabetes
• It generally occurs in young adults where insulin
  is not produced in the body. The insulin
  producing beta cells in the pancreas are
  destroyed and the damage could be permanent. The
  reasons behind this can be genetic or
  environmental.
• Type 2 Diabetes
• This typically occurs in the people who are obese
  and over the age of 45. Enough insulin is not
  produced in the body.
• Gestational diabetes
• This type of diabetes occurs in pregnant women
  and can result in complication during childbirth.
  Women having gestational diabetes are at risk of
  developing Type 2 diabetes after delivery.

Causes of diabetes

• Different types of diabetes have different
  causes. The exact causes of Type 1 diabetes are
  unknown, however, genetic and environmental
  factors can be held responsible for the same.
  Being obese and over the age of 40, play major
  role in developing Type 2 diabetes.

Signs and symptoms of diabetes

• Some of the signs and symptoms of diabetes could
  be frequent urination, increased thirst and
  hunger, weakness and tiredness, vomiting and
  nausea. Other common symptoms could be dry skin
  and some skin infections, blurry vision and
  tingling sensations.

Treatment and Prevention of Diabetes

• The treatment for diabetes depends on the type of
  diabetes. However, some common treatments include
  insulin shots and certain medications. Some of
  the preventive methods of diabetes include
  changes in diet, weight reduction and regular
  exercising.

• Diabetes is a health condition which can
  sometimes cause heart problems, kidney failure
  and other fatal diseases. Adopting preventive
  measures for diabetes can protect against
  diabetes!
