Title: How does the Biometric Attendance System work?

1
How does the Biometric Attendance System work?
2
  • The daily tasks of most businesses are focused on
    increasing productivity, team building and
finding ways to increase sales and NOT managing
    employee attendance. Tracking employee attendance
is a seemingly easy task, but it can and does get
complicated, especially when you factor in late
arrivals, high absenteeism rates and missed
    entries.

3
  • This can easily tie up your HR department which
would be better engaged in more business-related
tasks. This is where a biometric system can help
your business. With the growing need for more
    accountability and transparency, biometric
systems and their related software are making big
    gains in many industries.

4

What is biometric technology?
  • Biometrics is a term that refers to the
    examination of human biological characteristics.
When combined with identification technology and
software, it is used for purposes of security and
    identification. Biometric finger scanning in
particular is a popular type of biometric system.

5
How does a finger biometric attendance software
work?
  • As the name implies, this software is used to
    track employee attendance. Traditional attendance
systems include card swiping and entering pins
    and passwords. With fingerprint biometrics
attendance system however the front of your
finger will be scanned. The scanner will capture
the image of your finger print. It will then
compare it to the image it has stored in its
database. If there is a match, the scan is
successful and the employee will be registered as
    clocked in.

6
Why is a fingerprint used in biometric system?
  • Each finger of every person has a specific set of
characteristics and patterns. No single finger
print is similar. Every time your finger print is
scanned, it is converted into a binary code for
the purposes of verification. This algorithm
cannot be converted into an image making it
impossible for anyone to duplicate your prints.
After reading your print, the biometric
attendance keeping will attempt to match the
    scanned pattern to pre-scanned images.

7
Is the fingerprint the only type of biometric
measure used?
  • No, other measures are used as well. These are
    divided into physiological and behavioural.
    Physiological biometrics include fingerprints,
face, hand geometry, retina, signature, vein,
voice and DNA. Behavioural biometrics include how
a person walks and brain wave signalling.

A biometrics attendance software can help
companies keep an accurate record of employee
attendance, saving valuable time and money.
