Top 10 Famous Monuments of India
India is popular for its wide range of Historical
Monuments. People call India as Sone Ki Chidiya
as India is a land of beautiful ancient
architecture which attracts peoples
attention. These monuments were built by Indian
Kings as a symbol of their glory in wars or to
represent the beautiful cultural heritage of
India. Famous Indian Monuments are a major topic
from GK and questions are asked related to these
monuments in the Government Exams.
1. Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful buildings
in the world. Taj Mahal is famous as 7th Wonder
of the World. It was built by Mughal emperor
Shahjahan in the memory of his beloved wife,
Mumtaz Mahal (Arjumand Banu Begum).
2. Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar was built by Qutub-Ud-Din-Aibak in
early 13th century with red sandstone. It is
recognized as the tallest brick minaret in India.
3. Charminar
The famous Charminar is situated in Hyderabad of
Andhra Pradesh. The minar was built in 1591 CE
and was built by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah in the
beautiful city of Nizams.
4. India Gate
India Gate is located in Rajpath, New Delhi. The
India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and

Golden Temple is the central religious place of
the Sikhs. It is located in the city of Amritsar,
Punjab. It was founded by the fourth Sikh Guru,
Guru Ram Das in 1577.
8. Red Fort
The Red Fort is the historic fort in Old Delhi
which was built by fifth Mughal emperor Shah
Jahan in the 17th century. The fort was
constructed between 1638 and 1648.
9. Victoria Memorial
The Victoria Memorial is a large marble building
in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, which was built
between 1906 and 1921. It is dedicated to the
memory of Queen Victoria and is now a museum.
10. Gateway of India
The Gateway of India is one of India's most
unique landmarks situated in the city of Mumbai.
The colossal structure was constructed in 1924.
