There is a great significance of Indian wedding
cards when a wedding is finalized. One of the
noteworthy hallmarks of a Hindu wedding is to
bond two different individuals into the eternal
wedding bond with the help of families of
prospective bride and groom with social customs
and religious rituals. This sets the tone of
wedding preparations and celebrations. Well there
are a lot of things that matter, when it comes to
Hindu cards.

1. Structure
Typically, the Hindu wedding invitation cards
have a set pattern. They are usually a two-sided
card with a work of art on both sides. These
cards are adorned with beautiful motifs, art
work, and patterns. In the Hindu culture, the
wedding card is always preserved forever. Not
just the card but also the envelope.

2. Colors
The colors of the Hindu wedding cards have their
own significance. Though, the wedding cards
around the world are decorated beautifully with
colors, but Hindu cards are different.
This is because the colors that a wedding card
includes, are related to traditions and are
considered auspicious for the occasion. The most
preferred colors for a Hindu wedding card are
red, yellow, orange and green. They believe these
colors represent love, joy and signifies
prosperity and fertility.

3. Designs
Motifs, such as folded hands, diyas (earthen
lamps) and candles and symbols like the swastika
or a drawing of a couple, or radha-krishna, etc.
are used throughout the designing of the
invitation and the envelope. Moreover, the
traditional scroll work in metallic gold, silver
and in the tones of green is commonly found on
Hindu wedding cards as well.

4. Spirituality
The religious beliefs are predominantly reflected
in the Hindu marriage invitations. They are most
important and are believed to have high values.
The first invitation, as per Hindu culture, is
always sent to the God. This means, the first
card is placed at the worship place to invite the
God and Goddesses to shower blessings upon all,
especially the couple. Also, pictures of Lord
Ganesha, the god of good fortune and Goddess
Laxmi, the bringer of wealth, are together craved
on the wedding invitations.
5. Wordings
The words of the invitations are very thought
after. The wordings focus in inviting the guests
and requesting them to attend the wedding and
bless the couple. Moreover, sholkas are written
dedicating them to the Hindu gods and goddesses.
It gives a clear cut idea about the wedding, one
will be attending.
