can be rotated freely and are usually used for
those types of applications that are frequently
dismantled regularly. They are welded to the stub
end.

Ring joint flange they are called ring joint
flanges because they usually have a raised
surface with a ring outlet which is machined into
them. They are usually attached to the joints
without welding.   Socket weld flanges socket
weld flanges have an outer bore which is used to
insert the pipe. These flanges are usually used
as a shoulder for the pipe to rest on.

Weld neck flanges weld neck flanges are attached
to the neck of the pipe usually. These are welded
accordingly to the dimensions of the pipe and
have the same thickness as that of the pipe it is
going to be connected to. These flanges are
usually used for pipes that have high pressure
application.
