year is once again upon us and for the fourth
year in a row Regal Lakeland is proud to sponsor
the Polk County Teacher of the year award! Great
teachers inspire, and that's exactly what each of
this year's finalists have done. The Polk county
teacher of the year will be awarded on January
26th, 2017. The 2017 winner was chosen from an
incredible assembly of well over 9,000 employees,
170 Nominees, and 7 finalists. Nelson Mandela is
quoted as saying, "Education is the most powerful
weapon which you can use to change the world".
Being crowned Teacher of the Year is an enormous
honor and Regal Lakeland Automotive Group is
proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the Polk County
Teacher or the year award. This year's teacher of
the year will not only receive the title for 2017
representing Polk County, they will also receive
a brand-new car courtesy of Regal Lakeland
Automotive Group. In celebration of the winner
Regal Lakeland Automotive Group will be throwing
a reception at their Honda dealership at 700pm
on Thursday January 26th. At this reception,
Regal, will unveil her/his new car to the
recipient of the "Teacher of the Year" award. The
reception will feature music, food, and
refreshments. In addition to the winner, Regal
Lakeland Automotive Group has invited their
class, school's principal, district
superintendent, all the Nominees and their
friends and families, as well as school board
members, and many of the active members of the
Polk County community to enjoy the festivities
and mark this very special occasion.

This year's program honored over 230 outstanding
employees from across the Polk county school
district. Judges included community members from
local organizations and businesses, as well as
past winners and finalists. Judges reviewed the
applications without knowledge of applicant names
or schools. Judging criteria included leadership
and professional development activities,
community and school involvement, and teaching
style. Since the Teacher of the Year program
began in 1968, Polk is proud to have twelve
teachers become finalists for Florida's Teacher
of the Year. Three of them won the title and one
became a U.S. finalist. Regal Automotive Group
