2 Ways to Convert and Copy Blu-ray to DVD
  • From http//www.leawo.org/tutorial/blu-ray-to-dvd

  • "Can you burn a Blu-ray movie to DVD disc for
playback on DVD players? Ive been told that
Blu-ray movies require much larger space that
that of DVD disc. Is it possible to burn Blu-ray
    to DVD?"
  • Some guys have been asking about burning Blu-ray
to DVD. Since I happened to be working on that
problem recently, I thought Id whip up a
tutorial on how to convert and copy Blu-ray to
DVD. The below tutorial is about detailed
solution on how to convert Blu-ray to DVD. It is
a bit long, but covers 2 different useful ways to
    burn Blu-ray to DVD disc.
  • Part 1 Rip Blu-ray and Burn to DVD
  • Part 2 Copy Blu-ray to DVD Directly

Part 1 Rip Blu-ray and Burn to DVD
  • Why did so many guys ask how to convert Blu-ray
to DVD? Possibly because their computer comes
with a DVD recorder drive only, there is just a
DVD player available on their computer to play
back their Blu-ray movies, or they would like to
get a backup of their Blu-ray movies. Well, if
you plan to play Blu-ray movies on DVD player or
computer, you have to convert Blu-ray to DVD.
Here comes the first solution use a Blu-ray to
DVD converter to convert Blu-ray to video for
saving on computer hard drive, and then burn
converted video to DVD disc with a Blu-ray DVD

  • 1. Rip and Convert Blu-ray to Video
  • When it comes to the Blu-ray ripper to do the
Blu-ray ripping, you can use Handbrake for free.
For the detailed steps, please refer to ripping
Blu-ray with Handbrake. Note that Handbrake can
only convert Blu-ray to MKV and MP4 video. Plus,
its unable to crack the Blu-ray copy protections
    and region code restrictions.
  • Actually, the better Blu-ray to DVD converter for
you is Leawo Blu-ray Ripper. It can help you rip
and convert Blu-ray discs to HD/common videos in
180 formats easily, obvious better than
Handbrake that only saves Blu-ray movies in MP4
and MKV formats. Another advantage of Leawos
Blu-ray Ripper superior to Handbrake is that it
could decrypt and remove Blu-ray disc protections
    and break region code restrictions.

  • Leawo Blu-ray Ripper is quite easy to use for
ripping Blu-ray to video. What you need to do is
import the Blu-ray files, select the output
format, then start Blu-ray to video converting.
The detailed steps are listed below. You could
download and install Leawo Blu-ray Ripper before
you check the below guide to learn how to rip
    Blu-ray to video on computer.

  • 2. Burn Converted Video to DVD
  • When done with the Blu-ray ripping, you can use
some free DVD burning software such as DVD Flick,
DVD Styler, Windows DVD Maker, AVStoDVD, etc. to
burn videos to a blank DVD disc. But what should
be mentioned here is some of those tools stop
updating now. Some are gone on Windows 8. Some
create DVD with out-of-sync video and audio. Some
create DVD not compatible with DVD player. Some
even dont offer any DVD editing functions like
    setting titles, chapters, adding watermarks,
creating custom DVD menu styles, etc.
  • So if you want to burn videos to DVD disc with
high compatibility and quality, I recommend you
to take use of Leawo DVD Creator. This DVD
authoring software could burn video in any format
to DVD. Besides, the built-in video editor allows
you to customize videos with tools like trim,
crop, effect, watermark, etc. You can also make
DVD menu with background music. In addition, tons
of free and customized DVD menu templates are
provided for you to make professional DVD.

  • Leawo DVD Creator is not difficult to use at all.
You can drag and drop all converted Blu-ray files
(now in video formats) to Leawo DVD Creators
left processing list, choose or customize the DVD
menu and have a preview to ensure all goes right,
then do some further DVD settings like Disc Label
and Save to options. Finally, click "Burn" button
to convert video to DVD. The Blu-ray to DVD
conversion is done. Detailed steps are listed

Part 2 Copy Blu-ray to DVD Disc Directly
  • Frankly speaking, the first solution is a little
bit complicated as it requires a Blu-ray to video
converter and Blu-ray DVD burner. It Thats also
why I show you the second way, which is much
easier-to-master since you only need one tool
Leawo Blu-ray Copy to complete the Blu-ray to DVD
  • Leawo Blu-ray Copy is a perfect Blu-ray to DVD
Converter, which could decrypt and copy any
Blu-ray to DVD disc (DVD-9 or DVD-5), ISO file
and file folder at one go. The created DVD can be
viewed on any regular DVD player, plus the top
image and sound quality is ensured. Noticeably,
Leawo Blu-ray Copy offers 3 copy modes to let you
copy the full content or main content of Blu-ray,
or the contents you need to DVD disc.

Step 1 Load Blu-ray Content
  • Download, install and run Leawo Blu-ray Copy on
your Win computer. Then insert Blu-ray disc into
computer Blu-ray drive and add the source video
from Blu-ray disc. You have two ways to do so
  • A.Click Add Blu-ray/DVD to load the source
    video file.
  • B.Drag the source video file to the center chart
    of the interface.
  • If your computer has no Blu-ray drive, just
prepare one before the Blu-ray loading. Or you
are only allowed to load Blu-ray folder and ISO
Image file from computer hard drive.

Step 2 Set copy mode
  • Select a copy mode from "Full Movie", "Main
Movie" and "Custom Mode" (Main Movie is
recommended for copying Blu-ray to DVD). Also,
set output disc type as DVD-9 or DVD-5.

Step 3 Backup settings
  • Click the big green Copy button. On the popup
sidebar, set Copy to, Disc Label and Save
to option. If you get an extra DVD/Blu-ray
recorder drive plus your computers Blu-ray
recorder drive, you could insert target DVD disc
into the other blank disc recorder drive and then
select it as target in "Copy to" option. If you
only get one Blu-ray recorder drive, choose to
copy Blu-ray to DVD ISO image file first.

Step 4 Copy Blu-ray to DVD
  • Click Copy button on the right sidebar to copy
    Blu-ray to DVD.
  • If your computer has 2 Blu-ray recorder drives
(or one Blu-ray recorder drive and one DVD
recorder drive), Leawo Blu-ray Copy would help
you directly copy Blu-ray to DVD disc. For most
people who only have one Blu-ray recorder drive,
select to create ISO image file in "Step 3" and
then follow the below steps to further copy the
created ISO image file to DVD disc.

Step 5 Add created ISO image file
  • Insert a blank writable DVD disc into the Blu-ray
recorder drive. Directly drag and drop created
ISO image file from the directory youve set in
Save to option in Step 3 (or click the
drop-down arrow box next to the Add Blu-ray/DVD
button and then select Add iso file to add
    created ISO file).

Step 6 ISO to disc settings and burning
  • On the popup Add iso file window, set Copy to
and Disc Label options. Click the Burn button
to start burning ISO image file to DVD disc.
Leawo Blu-ray Copy would start to copy ISO image
    file to DVD disc immediately.
  • Note Make sure you are not breaking local law
for copying Blu-ray to DVD. This tutorial offers
only solutions for people who possess their
Blu-ray discs and not use the copied files for
    commercial uses.
