Title: Tips to Enhance the Look of Your Wooden Floor

Tips to Enhance the Look of Your Wooden Floor
  • If your floor is a dark brown hue so if you
select dark coloured wooden furniture, cushions
and curtains as your decor, there is the
possibility of all the decor getting lost among
the darkness. Dark coloured paints for the walls,
despite lending a look of pure chic and
sophistication and do the same and make the house
look brooding, heavy and even somewhat gothic.

  • Paired with the right colours and furnishings,
the allure and elegance of your house can go up
in leaps and bounds due to dark wooden flooring.

Contrast is key
  • Contrast is the key here. White or other light
coloured paint on walls and wooden or other
furniture in lighter tones wood add colour and
light to the room and enhance the richness and
elegance of the floor even further. Wooden
furniture would complement and harmonise with the
warmth of the floor as long as it not competing
with the floor. If your floor is black, dark
brown or dark grey, lighter shades of wood such
as beige, light grey and white would be ideal.
Crisp white walls and rugs in white or lighter
shades would enhance the overall look. A pop of
colour in fun and bright shades would also go a
long way towards enlivening a room.
  • However, you should keep in mind that completely
different colour palettes may run the effect. The
floor and the accessories should ideally be from
the same colour family in different shades. A
good idea would be to match the legs of the
furniture to the colour of the floor.

A natural look
  • Bring an organic look which has the earthy tones
of nature about it to harmonise with the overall
look. A touch of greenery with pots and plants
and even green curtains and decor would add a
hint of the jungle to your house.
  • If you have any particular favourite colour which
you might like to use a little more, use it by
all means as long as its loud and screaming and
completely standing out from the rest of the
colour scheme. A good way to introduce such a
colour would be to introduce a patterned rug or
throw in that colour and using some ornaments in
the same tone to balance each other.
  • The living area and kitchen would look especially
beautiful with a dark floor. Use lighter shades
of furniture, pantry cupboards and other
equipment to break up the monotony in these areas.

Complementing colour schemes
  • However, one should never go overboard with the
colour scheme. Dont use too many items in
varying colour families if you want to have an
elegant look about your home. The same goes for
adding clutter in the house which would mar the
effect that you are trying to create. Remember
    that less is always more.
  • The most important element here, of course, is to
get your floor right. The floor is the starting
point from where all your interior decor dreams
    can come alive.

  • Get an expert to handle this element in your
house. In Dubai, if you consult a professional
wood flooring company such as Nordic Homeworx at

cannot go wrong. Whether its normal wood

    your flooring requirements.
