Image File on PC and Mac
From http//
  • Many people may be unfamiliar with ISO image
files and have met a lot of questions upon ISO
image file using, mounting, creating and backup.
In this guidance, you will learn some detailed
information and practical solutions about Blu-ray
ISO image file. This article is also applicable
    to DVD/CD ISO image files.

Part 1 What is Blu-ray ISO Image File
Part 2 Create Blu-ray ISO Image File
Part 3 Backup Blu-ray ISO Image File
Part 4 Use Blu-ray ISO Image File
What is Blu-ray ISO Image File
  • An ISO image file, also called a disc image, is a
complete copy of an optical disc, including CD,
DVD and Blu-ray. ISO image files usually have a
    file extension of .iso.
  • ISO image files could be used in a variety of
ways. Since ISO file is a backup of a disc, it
could act as what the original disc could do when
you lose or damage the original disc. You can
also mount the ISO, which makes it accessible
as if it were a physical disc, so that you could
install software from ISO image file with the
absence of physical disc drive. The ISO file can
also be burned back onto another CD, DVD or
Blu-ray disc, creating a copy of the original
  • The most common way to get an ISO file is to
download it from a website. However, you could
create ISO image files by yourself with original
    CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc.
  • (For more detailed technical information about
ISO image file, check out the ISO image article
    on Wikipedia.)

Create Blu-ray ISO Image File
  • To create Blu-ray ISO image file is, in another
word, to backup or rip Blu-ray to ISO image file,
from Blu-ray disc and Blu-ray movie folder. Thus,
firstly, source Blu-ray disc or folder should be
prepared. To backup Blu-ray disc to ISO image
    file, a Blu-ray drive is a must-have. Things you
    need to prepare beforehand
  • 1. Source Blu-ray disc or folder.
  • 2. Computer with Blu-ray disc drive if you need
to copy and backup Blu-ray disc to ISO image
  • 3. Download and install Blu-ray to ISO backup
    software Leawo Blu-ray Copy.
  • 4. Internet connection.
  • Leawo Blu-ray Copy The ever best Blu-ray backup
    software for PC users
  • Back up Blu-ray disc/folder to hard drive or
    disc without quality loss
  • Back up Blu-ray ISO to blank BD disc in one
  • Movie-only backup, 11 disc duplication, etc.

  • The below is a detailed guide to show you how to
create Blu-ray ISO file from Blu-ray disc.
  • Step 1 Add source Blu-ray files
  • After the abovementioned things are prepared,
kick off Leawo Blu-ray Copy and then click the
Add Blu-ray/DVD button to browse and add source
Blu-ray disc or Blu-ray folder (the BDMV folder).
Also, you could choose to directly drag and drop
source Blu-ray files into this Blu-ray Copy

  • Step 2 Choose copy mode
  • Leawo Blu-ray Copy offers 3 different copy modes
11 disc to disc Full Movie mode, movie-only Main
movie mode and Custom Mode (allowing you to
select desired chapters or titles for backup).
Select one mode according to personal needs.
Meanwhile, at the bottom-left corner, choose the
output disc type you would like the result ISO
image file to be (BD50 or BD25). You could select
subtitles and audio tracks if you choose Main
    Movie and Custom Mode.

  • Step 3 Blu-ray to ISO backup settings
  • Move mouse to the big green Copy button and
click it. On the popup sidebar, tick ISO File
under Copy to option and set a directory in
Save to to save the final ISO file. You could
also reset the Disc Label as you like. After
these, click the bottom Copy button to start
creating ISO file out of Blu-ray files.

Backup ISO file to Blu-ray disc
  • Backup ISO file onto disc, in another word, burn
ISO to Blu-ray disc, is another practical and
powerful function that Leawo Blu-ray Copy owns.
Just like an ISO burner or ISO image burner,
Leawo Blu-ray Copy offers one-click operation to
help copy and back up ISO file onto blank
writable BD disc. Insert a recordable Blu-ray
disc into the Blu-ray disc drive and then follow
the below instructions to learn how to backup ISO
    to Blu-ray disc.

  • Step 1 Add ISO file
  • Download and install Leawo Blu-ray Copy on your
computer. Run the Blu-ray Copy program after
    installation. Click the inverted triangle
drop-down button next to the Add Blu-ray/DVD
button, or directly drag and drop source Blu-ray
ISO file into this Blu-ray Copy for adding.

  • Step 2 Related settings
  • After loading source ISO file, this Blu-ray Copy
would pop up an Add iso file window to let you
select target disc drive in Copy to box and set
    Disc Label freely.

  • Step 3 Start ISO to disc backup
  • Finally, click the Burn button on the Add iso
file window to start burning Blu-ray ISO image
    file onto Blu-ray disc.
  • Note DVD ISO image files could only be copied
onto DVD discs, while BD ISO image files could
only be copied onto BD discs. Taking the storage
into account, its not recommended to back up
DVD-9 ISO file onto DVD-5 disc and BD50 ISO file
    onto BD25 disc.

Use ISO image files
  • You could get 2 ways to use ISO image files here
mount ISO image and open ISO image directly with
    3rd-party apps.
  • Mount ISO image file
  • To use your ISO image and make your files
accessible, install a virtual disc drive, then
locate the ISO image file on your hard drive and
right-click it to select Mount (only for
Windows users). The ISO image file would be
accessible in a new drive letter, as if it were a
physical disc drive inserted into your computer.
This process is mostly known as mount ISO image
file. You could firstly mount ISO image file and
then run the ISO image file freely.

  • Open ISO image file with 3rd-party app
  • Or, you could open ISO image file with 3rd-party
apps like WinRAR archiver. For Blu-ray movie ISO
image file, you could also directly use 3rd-party
to open and play Blu-ray ISO image file. Some
Blu-ray Player software apps could directly play
back Blu-ray ISO image files for you.
