MarketsandMarkets Presents
  • Membrane Bioreactor System Market
  • Trends Forecasts to 2019

2
  • MBRs are used to treat biologically active
wastewater feeds from municipal or industrial
sources. MBRs are used in wastewater applications
    requiring higher treatment standards, which
cannot be achieved by conventional processes.
Membranes can be used for filtration processes
such as ultrafiltration (UF) and microfiltration
(MF), nanofiltration (NF), and for the removal of
dissolved substances, such as salts and dissolved
organics using reverse osmosis (RO). The market
for membrane bioreactor systems is projected to
reach 2,927 million by 2019, growing at a CAGR
    of 15.28 between 2014 and 2019.
  • The rapid development in global population has
increased the shortage of fresh water supplies.
    Currently, the membrane bioreactor (MBR)
technology has become a robust technology in the
recovery of domestic sewage due to its advantages
of generating high-quality effluent, and the easy
operation over the conventional activated sludge
    process (CAS).

  • Membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems are used for
    different wastewater treatment applications such
    as municipal and industrial wastewater
    treatments. The MBRs are membrane-based
biological treatment systems, in which the
    conventional activated sludge processes are
    combined with microfiltration or ultrafiltration
to achieve secondary biological treatment and
tertiary filtration in a single step.

  • The market for membrane bioreactor systems is
projected to reach 2,927 million by 2019,
growing at a CAGR of 15.28 between 2014 and
2019. The Asia-Pacific region dominated the
membrane bioreactor systems market in 2013,
globally. China, Japan, India, U.S., and Germany
are the major countries with a huge demand for
    membrane bioreactor systems. Asia-Pacific is
expected to show the highest growth rate of
21.54 between 2014 and 2019, in terms of volume
for the membrane bioreactor systems market.
