IVF with Freezing Eggs

• Freezing eggs means the donor can have her eggs
  removed some time before the recipient's IVF
  cycle.
• The UK fertility regulator HFEA says using frozen
  eggs is a relatively new development.
• It says few babies have been born in the UK after
  treatment using a woman's own frozen eggs, but
  more have been born using frozen donor eggs.
• Techniques for freezing and thawing eggs have
  been improving, leading to better success rates,
  the HFEA says. However, it cautions that not all
  eggs will survive the freezing and thawing
  process or will become fertilized.

• Cycles using frozen donor eggs were associated
  with lower live birth rates than those using
  Fresh Eggs
• Out of 11,148 IVF egg donation cycles, 20 used
  frozen eggs.
• Cycles were cancelled in 11.7 of fresh egg
  cycles compared with 8.5 for frozen.
• Looking at IVF cycles started overall, the live
  birth rate was 50 with fresh eggs and 43 with
  frozen.
• Looking at embryo transfers, the live birth rate
  was 56.1 with fresh procedures and 47.1 with
  frozen.
