Teeth Whitening or Bleaching
  • Bleaching is a common and popular chemical
process used to whiten teeth. Some people get
their teeth bleached to make stains disappear,
while other just want a whiter shade.
  • Discoloration occurs in the enamel and can be
caused by medication, coffee, tea and cigarettes.
Discoloration also can be hereditary or due
    simply to getting older.
  • Typically, whitening at home takes two to four
weeks, depending on the desired shade you wish to
achieve. Whitening in the office may call for one
or more 45-minute to one-hour visits to your
    dentist's office.

6
Tooth Bonding
  • Bonding is tooth-colored material used to fill in
gaps or change the color of teeth. Requiring a
single office visit, bonding lasts several years.
Bonding is more susceptible to staining or
chipping than other forms of restoration. When
teeth are chipped or slightly decayed, bonded
composite resins may be the material of choice.
Bonding also is used as a tooth-colored filling
for small cavities. Additionally, it can be used
to close spaces between teeth or cover the entire
outside surface of a tooth to change its color
    and shape.

7
Veneers
  • Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain or plastic
placed over the front teeth to change the color
or shape of your teeth. Veneers are used on teeth
with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored,
oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. Little
or no anesthesia is needed. Veneers are used to
treat some of the same problems as bonding.
  • Porcelain veneers require more than one visit
because they are fabricated in a laboratory.
Veneers have a longer life expectancy and color
    stability than bonding.

8
Zirconia Crown
  • Zirconia Crown is very popular in all ceramic
crowns. This crown is worn to improve the
appearance of the tooth which has become stained
or disfigured for a long time. They are very easy
    to wear and long lasting.
  • Zirconium crowns and bridges can be used anywhere
in your mouth because of its strength. It could
be resist the biting pressure of the front teeth
    like beck teeth grinding.
  • It is so close to look likes your natural teeth
so it can be used without any dental work.
  • It can be fixed by using regular dental cement.
  • It is really a strong substance that can endure
wear and tear of regular use. You will not find
any differences with natural looks and it
reflects light the same way. If your new crown
keep in front of the normal light than it could
    be refluxed the light.

9
Inlays and onlays
  • Inlays and onlays, also called indirect fillings,
are made from gold, porcelain, or composite
materials and fill decayed or damaged teeth.
Dental fillings are molded into place during an
office visit however, inlays and onlays are
created in a dental laboratory and bonded into
place by your dentist. The filling is called an
inlay when the material is bonded within the
center of a tooth it is called an onlay when
the filling includes one or more points of the
tooth or covers the biting surface. Inlays and
onlays preserve as much healthy tooth as possible
and are an alternative to crowns.

Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry
  • Cosmetic treatment can help you look younger.
  • Discoloration and dental erosion are common
effects of aging. By correcting these minor
issues, we can help you look years younger.
  • Cosmetic treatment can enhance your career.
  • Unless you work as a model or actor, you probably
dont depend on your appearance for career
success. However, if you are embarrassed about
your smile, you may be holding yourself back.
When you feel more confident, you are more likely
to take on greater responsibility and leadership.
You may also look happier, which can give the
appearance of greater motivation and dedication
    to your career.
  • Some procedures can help prevent future dental
    damage.
  • Although cosmetic treatments are simply designed
to improve your appearance, procedures such as
bonding can strengthen your teeth. For example,
by covering up hairline fractures or worn edges,
we can prevent further wear on these already
    compromised areas.
  • Cosmetic dentistry can boost your
    self-confidence.
  • With your younger, overall improved appearance,
you will enjoy greater self-assurance. Not only
will you feel better when you look in the mirror.
You may also find that you are more excited about
parties, reunions, and other social events.

11
Risks of Cosmetic Dentistry
  • The decision to go forward with a cosmetic
dentistry for smile makeover is risky because of
the cost and the potential for botched results,
but the field has improved so much that results
are highly guaranteed. The process of covering
your teeth with porcelain veneers costs several
thousand dollars, and while the results might be
stunning, many people dont think a perfect smile
is worth that much. The trick is to go for a
    combination of several lesser procedures.

12
Cost of cosmetic dentistry
  • Cosmetic dentistry can involve many different
    areas of dentistry including orthodontics,
    periodontics, implants, crowns, veneers, and
whitening. The cost will depend on what your
goals are, as well as where you live. The best
first step is a comprehensive exam and
personalized consultation with a dentist you
    trust.

An Overview of Cosmetic dentistry
  • At present, the scope of cosmetic dentistry is
very wide and covers the following special areas
    of dentistry bonding, tooth whitening,
restorations of tooth color, dental implants,
porcelain veneers and dental fillings. Each of
the above treatments further has its own
subdivisions in terms of special techniques
employed and equipment that is used. It is also
important to note that there are new branches of
cosmetic dentistry that have emerged in the
recent years. Since cosmetic dentistry is an
integral part of dentistry and can broadly be
classified as a branch of the same, then by
extension, it can be said that new branches of
dentistry have been formed directly out of the
development of cosmetic dentistry. Two of the new
branches of dentistry that are worth mentioning
at this point are endodontics and orthodontics.
The people that are trained in these two branches
and who practice the same are referred to as
    endodontists and orthodontists respectively.
Contrary to what most people are likely to
believe, given the newness of these branches, not
ever dentist automatically qualifies to be called
a cosmetic dentist. Before one can officially be
allowed to use the title, they have to undergo
full training on the same as a special
    postgraduate study course.
