CHIANG RAI
Chiang Rai, the former capital of the great Lanna
Kingdom, is a fascinating province filled with

from ruins of ancient settlements and Buddhist

PHRA NAKHON SI AYUTTHAYA

HUA HIN
A premier beach resort town on the Gulf of
Thailand, it is equally popular with young
couples and families. Hua Hin became Thailands
first beach resort after a train line was laid in
the 1920s to provide access from Bangkok, and
King Rama VII established his summer retreat in
the area. It is popular for its numerous seaside
seafood restaurants, a lively night market, beach

MAE HONG SON
Known as the Switzerland of Thailand, it is
nestled in a deep valley surrounded by hills
bordering Myanmar. Virtually covered with mist
throughout the year, Mae Hong Son was once only
accessible via harrowing, windy, narrow roads
that took almost a day to traverse. It is a
fascinating province of Burmese and Lanna style
temples, hot springs, hill tribe villages,
trekking, rafting, national parks, and even an
annual reggae festival.

SUKHOTHAI
Sukhothai means Dawn of Happiness, the first
truly independent Thai Kingdom. The temples
and monuments of this great city have been
lovingly restored, and Sukhothai Historical Park,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see for
all travellers, particularly in the evening when
the graceful Buddha images are illuminated by
lights. During the Loy Krathong Festival,
hundreds of candle-powered, floating lanterns
are released into the sky.
KOH CHANG
Koh Chang (Elephant Island) is the 2nd largest
island and the primary destination for visiting
Koh Chang Marine National Park. The Park is great
for snorkelling, diving, camping, and jungle
hiking. Around 70 of Koh Chang is covered by
rainforest and the island is a dream destination
for budget travellers and families, with a wide
