Health Hazardshttp//www.healthhazards.in
  • Inside todays world safety is the most required
    attribute for a hazard.
  • For a hazard to be prevented, safety is the
important concept. And it is only the major worry
that looms around everyone.Health worries are
the major factor in todays world. And the
hazards associated with it are called as the
    health hazards.
  •
  • So, WHAT is health???
  • Health is a state of good physical condition,
well being and being free from illness or
disease. If someone has all these features, he is
    said to be healthy.
  •
  • and WHAT is hazard???
  • Hazard is a risk or a danger of happening
something. There is a chance or probability that
it will partially or completely damage the
    system.

2
Classification Of Hazards
  • Classification of Hazards into 2 types Physical
    and Health.
  • Physical Hazards are the hazards based on the
property that an object bears owing to its
    existence.
  • Health Hazards are the disease causing or the
hazards deteriorating the health of a person.
  • Classification of Health Hazards as
  • Acute toxicity
  • Skin corrosion/irritation
  • Serious eye damage/eye irritation
  • Respiratory or skin sensitization
  • Germ cell mutagenicity
  • Carcinogenicity
  • Reproductive toxicity
  • Specific target organ toxicity single exposure
  • Specific target organ toxicity repeated
    exposure
  • Aspiration hazard
  • Biohazardous infectious materials

3
Environmental Health
  • Health of the complete environment is
important. As it comprises of the human
beings, plants, animals and the most important is
    the nature around us.Environmental Health
consists of the factors that can harm human
health and how to identify, prevent and control
such effects.CDC(Centre for Disease Control and
    Prevention)s National Centre for Environmental
Health(NCEH) monitors, directs and plans for a
program for improving the health of the american
    people.
  • The Healthy People 2020 Environmental Health
    primarily focusses on 6 themes
  • Outdoor Air Quality
  • Surface and Ground Water Quality
  • Toxic substances and hazardous wastes
  • Homes and Communities
  • Infrastructure and Surveillance
  • Global Environmental Health
  • A few diseases associated with environmental
    health are
  • Asthma
  • Autism
  • Breast Cancer
  • Cancer
  • Lung Disease
  • Lupus
  • Obesity
  • Parkinsons Disease
  • Reproductive Health
  • These diseases have been given by the
    NIH(National Institute for Environmental Health
    Sciences)

Environmental Pollution
  • Environmental Pollution as we know today, is what
that existed for centuries, but became prominent
and significant only following the industrial
revolution in 19th century. It is it that brought
introduction of oil and its usage through various
    processes.
  • Environmental Pollution occurs when nature does
not know how to decompose some substances and
    they remain in our environment.
  • Such pollution is called Environmental Pollution.
  • Environmental Pollution occurs both in the
developed and the developing nations across the
    countries.
  • Based on its types The Environmental Pollution
    is classified as
  • Air Pollution
  • Water Pollution
  • Land Pollution
  • There can be several effects of the dying
environment on humans, animals and the plants.
  • Cholorofluoro Carbons (CFCs) released from using
    ACs, refrigrators, deodrants also cause
environmental pollution as they deplete the ozone
    layer.
  • The ozone layer protects us from the harmful
radiations from the sun that are ultraviolet
    radiations , thus preventing environmental
    pollution.
  • So it can be seen here that environmental
pollution is a global issue and that needs to be
    tackled wisely.
  • Proper awareness and education is lacking in
several regions especially in the developing
nations where the problems are rising day by day.
But the developed nations are also not far behind
as their eminssions are greater and their share
is more as far as the harm to the environment is
    concerned.
