male cancer in the United States? High PSA level
is the first indicator of prostate cancer but
its often a symptom of less serious conditions.

Prostatitis Prostatitis is the inflammation of
the prostate gland and it can be very painful and
distressing. This condition can cause a high rise
in PSA level. Bacterial Prostatitis can be
treated with antibiotics but non-bacterial
Prostatitis is harder to treat.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
BPH is an enlargement of prostate gland with more
cells making PSA. Its the most common prostate
problem for men over 50 and does not produce any
serious complications. A digital rectal exam can
differentiate BPH and prostate cancer.

Urinary Tract Infection Infection near the
urinary tract or prostate gland can irritate and
inflame prostate cells and results in high PSA.
Most urinary tract infections are caused by
bacteria and can be treated using antibiotics.

with the architecture around the prostate gland
can cause your PSA level to rise. Placing the
catheter into the bladder is the most common type
of trauma that makes your PSA rise.
