Need of E-grocery Market Around us And
Challenges Faced by E-grocery Retailers
2
NCR of Delhi has emerged as one of the fastest
growing region in terms of real estate in the
country. Several townships and real estate
constructions groups are coming up with their
building and towers. One such property
destination is Ghaziabad.
3
Over the years it has emerged as one of the posh
housing localities. Properties in Ghaziabad are
developing at a rapid pace. Various construction
groups are coming up with their Projects in
Ghaziabad.
They are providing all the basic amenities, all
the possible luxuries to lure the prospect buyer.
Along with the world class infrastructure and
facilities, they are coming up with new ideas
like that of e-grocery retail shops.
4
The reason behind the growing of internet economy
can be easily attributed to the growing interest
by consumers to point and click their way through
nearly all aspects of daily life. Business
selling consumer products online or better known
as e-tailers have started to develop services
and sell products online even in areas that are
said to be the sole domain of traditional
businesses, such as grocery stores and
pharmacies. Online grocery shops or e-grocers
are getting popular due to its sheer convenience,
ease of market, larger selection and time saving.
5
One of the advantages of e-grocery shops is their
facility of home delivery of items purchased
online which is quite appealing to those for whom
going out to shop is a difficult task for many of
the reasons, such as physical disability, busy
lifestyle, shops being too far to reach, the need
to care for small children or the lack of
adequate and convenient transportation.
6
  • Using online services to buy groceries and other
    products relieves consumers from physically
driving to and shopping in traditional stores.
The added advantage on e-grocery shops is that
they provide information as well as products and
services and hence become a single-source
solution for the busy consumer today.
  • From a businessmans point of view, the
pure-play i.e. no retail storefronts, only
ordering through internet and receiving delivery,
and possibly one or more warehouses, e-grocer
model has an upper hand with several advantages
over the traditional retail grocery model.

7
Firstly, the online grocers benefit from low
overheads, as they store goods in warehouses
outside big cities where commercial rents are
sky-high and do not have to bear the high costs
associated with multiple retail locations,
including rent, parking, and high property taxes.
8
Second, by pooling their stock in fewer
locations, e-grocers can better manage those,
reducing stock holding costs and increasing the
turnover rates. This results in less spoilage of
products and also shorter lead times from the
producer to the consumer, which is the key
advantage in selling perishable products.
9
Third, e-grocers have an option to collect the
detailed information about their customers
buying habits and preferences, which can be used
for promotions and targeted marketing. This type
of one-to-one marketing is what the traditional
grocers try to do to track purchases.
10
Fourth, e-grocers may result in sales growth for
the industry. By running their own delivery
networks, and warehousing situated outside the
city, they are better able to control costs. When
compared to the traditional supermarkets, their
operating costs are quite low when you factor in
rent and utility bills. E-grocers are becoming
more popular than supermarkets as customers are
willing to pay extra money for the convenience of
not dealing with traffic and parking problems.
Overall, e-commerce is rapidly growing in India,
thanks to better web access, and the potential
for online grocers in particular is huge.
11
So with such facilities being provided one can
look forward to invest in Properties in Ghaziabad
or can fulfill their dream of having their own
home in Projects in Ghaziabad.
