Celexa is an antidepressant drug and is used to
treat patients who suffer from depression. It
contains the active ingredient called citalopram.
Citalopram belongs to the group of drugs called
selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
It works by affecting the chemicals in the brain
that become imbalanced in patients who have
depression. It may not be suitable for everyone,
and therefore it is usually offered on an initial
trial by your doctor. We currently have brand
Lundbeck Celexa (20 mg, 40 mg), Oryx Celexa (30
mg), and generic citalopram (10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg)

Celexa Side EffectsThe possible side effects
include Decreased sex drive, impotence
Drowsiness, insomnia Dry/watery mouth,
yawning, cold symptoms Mild nausea, gas, upset
stomach, weight changes, urinating less

More serious side effects may include Severe
headache, difficulty concentrating, memory
problems, weakness, fainting Severe nausea or
vomiting, severe diarrhea, loss of appetite
Very stiff muscles, high fever, sweating, fast or
uneven heartbeat If you still have questions

you have any of the following conditions
Bipolar disorder or a history of suicidal
thoughts Liver or kidney disease Seizures
or epilepsy. Celexa is in pregnancy category C
(studies have shown an adverse effect on the
fetus). You should discuss the risks and benefits
of using it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
This medication has not been approved for use in
children under 18. Patients under the age of 24
are at higher risk of suicidal thoughts and
should inform their doctor immediately if they
occur.
