Job Seekers How to find a Job
Tips for job seeker whos going nuts trying to
find a job
4
Anyone in a job search knows it pretty much
sucks. Not very eloquent, I know, but that seems
to sum it up best. A job search that goes on too
long, or yields little employer feedback in the
form of interviews or feedback, can start to
become demoralizing and depressing. You can
begin to feel like you are an island. When you
see everyone else going off to work, having a
normal life, while you are at home, day after
day, you can start to get a little nuts.

1. Dont keep doing the same thing
2. Meet with people often
3. Limit your time searching online job boards
4. Exercise
5. Get the right tools
6
Dont keep doing the same thing
If your job search is not delivering results,
dont keep doing the same thing. Change your
strategy, seek new tactics and find help where
you think you are coming up short. It could be
in the form of a job coach, an interview critique
or resume reviewer. It could even mean talking
with recruiters and HR managers that you know to
ask them why they think you are not getting
results.
7
Meet with people often
Isolation becomes one of the biggest enemies to
the unemployed. Searching for work at home, by
yourself can secretly start to wear you down and
diminish your communication skills and
confidence. Get out and work in a Starbucks once
a week. Join an accountability group of job
seekers just make sure they are positive
people. Join Meet Up groups related to your
profession, interests or hobbies. This later
approach just gets you out interacting with
people. You may even find a connection that
leads you to your next opportunity!

Limit your time searching online job boards
Limit your time searching online job boards.
Limit your time searching online job boards.
Limit your time searching online job boards. Get
the point? Its an easy trap to fall into. You
think you are productive finding job
opportunities online and applying to them, but
youre dead wrong! VERY FEW people get a job
from online job boards. You need to spend 80 of
your time networking and less than 20 on job
boards. Be disciplined about this point.
9
Exercise
Your brain is going nuts. Youre stressed. The
best cure is physical exercise. Get out of the
house once a day and go to the gym or find a
place to work out. Do it the same time every day
to establish a routine. You would have a routine
if you had a job, therefore, you should have a
routine when you look for a job. Im not a
health nut. Just trust me this tip is a must
for every job seeker. You will feel better, look
better and be more prepared when you do have an
interview.
10
Get the right tools
Most people use tools of one sort or the other
for their jobs. The same should be true for job
seekers. You need tools that will help you with
the job search process. A critical tool for the
job seeker in 2014 is a job search tracking
system (JTS). Without it, you might as well add
10 weeks to your job search. A JTS is like a CRM
for job seekers. Dont know what CRM is? Google
it. Im not going to do all the work for youJ
The best JTS out there is SnagPad and you can try
it free here.

Hopefully, these five points will help make your
job search experience more positive and shorter.
Remember, you are a great worker and you can
offer tremendous value to an employer. Use these
tips to help you put your best foot forward in
your job search. Best of luck!
