    a licensed practical nurse (LPN) to assist in

    efficiency of the health care team.

Roles of CNA
  • A certified nursing assistant is expected to be
    able to perform all of the following tasks
  • Skilful repositioning of bedridden patients to
    avoid the development of bedsores.
  • Answering all patients call-for-help signals.

  • Feeding patients orally, or through a gastric
    tube when the need arises.
  • Observation of patients wellness, vital signs,
    food intake, fluid charts and monitor alarms and
    reporting all this data to the nursing staff.

  • Helping patients to walk, move in and out of bed,
    exercise and adapt to post-operative states.
  • Transportation of patients to operation rooms or
    radiology units using stretchers or wheelchairs.
  • Cleaning rooms, changing bed linings and
    disinfecting any foments.

CNA certification training
  • To become a certified nursing assistant, in
    addition to holding a high school diploma, you
    will need to take an exam for a CNA
    certification.
  • Most candidates pass the exam after completing a
    12 week certified nursing assistant certification
    program which is offered at almost every college
    and healthcare facility.

  • The CNA education programs emphasize on clinical
    anatomy and physiology, basic nursing skills,
    life support, safety and hygiene, infection
    control and nutrition. Students also should
    attend to training sessions on real time work
    environments.
  • The training regulations of the federal nurse
    aide state that a certified nursing assistant
    training program is approved only if it provides
    50 hours of theory tuition besides 100 hours of
    training that is supervised by clinical personnel.
