What is The Washington Poste-Replica?
  • e-Replica is an exact digital copy of the print
    edition of the daily and Sunday Washington Post

e-Replica provides readers with comprehensive
SmartNavigation, built on cutting-edge
technology.

SmartNavigation also provides readers with a
traditional 2-page newspaper view, table of
contents, article jumps (linking article
sections) and easy to read text views.

By signing up for e-Replica through The
Washington Posts Newspaper in Education
Department, teachers and students get free access
to that days newspaper as well as to the
previous 90 days of back issues.

On the form provided, teachers are encouraged
to use their professional e-mail address rather
than their personal e-mail address as the
students will use this same information to sign
in

Teachers must also indicate approximately how
many students they see on an average day, as well
as their largest class size. This second number
will determine the maximum simultaneous sessions
the subscription will allow

Once teachers have submitted the signed order
form, they receive an e-mail from
thewashingtonpost_at_newspaperdirect.com which will
include a link to the e-Replica website

This e-mail will also contain the teachers
password. Teachers may begin using e-Replica by
clicking Sign In in the upper right hand corner
and entering their e-mail and password in the
appropriate fields

Every day, at approximately 230 AM, teachers
receive an e-mail letting them know that that
days edition of e-Replica is available.

Included with each subscription is a free
download of Press Reader available under the
Help and Support page

Press Reader allows the reader to download
e-Replica to a laptop or mobile device and read
it offline.

No need to worry about lack of space for teachers
who want to store back issues.

e-Replica can be read in a one page or two page
view

The Page View, along with several other options,
may be selected using the toolbar at the bottom
of the screen. A thumbnail view of each page is
available on the right.

classroom blog by clicking the Share icon in a

Articles can also be printed in a variety of
different formats.

By clicking on the headphone icon, in the Text
View box, the reader can have the article read
out loud, a great tool for remedial readers or
ESL students.

Teachers can select My Monitors under My
Services in the upper right hand corner to have
e-Replica search the newspaper every day for
certain words or phrases.

e-Replica will then send the teacher an e-mail
any day that that word or phrase appears in the
newspaper.

technology to not only display and highlight
articles

graph, or cartoon from any of the last 90 days
