Preparing your Computer for Progress Book

Check Operating System

• Click the blue apple in the top left side of
  the desktop
• Click About this Mac
• If you have OS 10.3, then follow steps in the
  remaining pages
• If you have OS 10.4 or 10.5, then contact Ed or
  Jeff at the ESC

Check date/time

• Click on the clock in the upper-right hand side
  of the desktop.
• Ensure the date/time are set correctly.
• If incorrect, click Open Date Time and enter
  the correct information

Open Applications Folder

• To check to see if you have Preview or
  TextEdit open the applications folder
• If either of these two program are present, move
  them to the trash to delete them
• Check to see what version of Adobe Reader
• If 7.1, then your computer is already setup for
  Progress book

Check Safari Version

• Open Safari and check the version by clicking the
  Safari menu and clicking About Safari
• If anything less than 1.3, then please update
  your Safari

Turn off Pop-Up Blocker

• From the Safari menu, make sure the Block Pop-Up
  Windows is unchecked

Install Software Updates

• If you need to install software
• go to www.noeca.org
• select downloads
• select the correct software and install

• To install Acrobat, select the appropriate
  computer system

• Click the Download link

• Allow the downloaded file to completely download
  and install
• Note you may need to double-click the file after
  download to install the software

• Once installed, move the Acrobat program to your
  Applications folder
