Curling, Curling, Curling
The history of curling in Canada has been a long
and proud one. Steeped with a tradition that
dates back to the first Scottish settlers to this
great land, curling is best known as Canadas
second biggest winter sport besides hockey that
is. As Canada has grown so have her communities.
With this community growth, the sport of curling
has increased in size. Clareview has grown as
well. With a population of 89,095 and growing,
this community needs a facility that will not
only meet the needs of curlers today, but will
also meet the expectations of curling in the
future, Hence the formation of The Clareview
Curling Club . . .

The Clareview Curling Club wishes -To provide
the residents of Clareview and Northeast Edmonton
a world class curling facility offering new
technology, first class amenities and an
excellent location that will not only draw local
participants but will also draw the interest of
curlers nationally and internationally. -To
establish within the Clareview community a
curling club that will not only meet the needs of
curlers today but will also meet the expectations
of curlers in the future. -To service our
established north east curling base and to also
promote and provide a curling venue that will
build and strengthen our junior curling program.
As the existing curling base gets older, our
strength will be in our up and coming junior
curlers. This facility will not only be built for
this current curling generation, but will also
serve as a curling legacy for our children and
our childrens children.

Club Status
The Clareview Curling Club was formed in the
spring of 2001. Its mission is to form a new
curling facility in north east Edmonton that will
not only promote the great sport of curling for
our established curlers but to also develop a
strong and viable curling program for north east
Edmontons youth.
The club is now in the final stages of acquiring
the necessary land for this project and subject
to rezoning approval plans to start construction
as soon as possible.
As with any new sports venue, its success depends
on those that will use the facility.

Sgt. Marc Leger paid the ultimate sacrifice, not
only for his country but for those of us that are
left to remember him. The Canadian Armed Forces
lost a soldier and comrade, Edmonton lost a
friend and a neighbor.
