possible LiDAR for PR/VI - Imagery will be
collected with the ADS40 Digital Camera -
Collected at .5 ft GSD, to be delivered to USACOE
at 1 foot GSD - All mainland PR and VI (St.
Croix, St. Thomas and St. Johns) - Acquisition
of Natural Color for all areas and CIR on the
coast - Specification requires Cloud Free over
San Juan and up to 5 elsewhere - Acquisition
period is from November 2006 to March 2007 - Two
Aircraft and Digital Cameras positioned on
PR/VI - Data delivered in 1/16th DOQ tiles -
GeoTIFF, MrSID and ECW formats - Data will be in
Public Domain USDA Opportunities - USACOE has
offered this data to USDA at no cost - USACOE
would like USDA to consider funding LiDAR
Acquisition - LiDAR funding is not complete -
USACOE is requesting 150 K for LiDAR
Acquisition - Goal is 5 Meter LiDAR in all areas
except possible the mountains of PR - Mountains

FY 2004 APFO DOQs - NRCS obligated 746,592
dollars to the APFO in 2004 to acquire 1 meter
natural color ortho-imagery covering 122 full
sized quadrangles within the MatSu Borough, Delta
Junction, Gulkana, and Kodiak Island areas.
Acquisition was done using a combination of
airborne digital and satellite based sensors. The
Matanuska-Susitna borough subsequently
contributed an additional 200,000 dollars to
obtain an additional 54 quadrangles adjoining the
original project. Titan Contract for NRI
imagery NRCS awarded a 620,000 dollar
contract to Titan geospatial to produce 112,000
and 124,000 NMAS standard ortho-imagery for 38
villages and 360 areas of interest for the NRI.
Imagery will cover a total of 31,000 square
kilometers. Cooperative Agreements were
established with the State of Alaska, Division of
Forestry to develop ortho-imagery from 21 Digital
Globe scenes over areas of mutual interest.
Thirty-five thousand dollars (35,000) was
committed in two separate agreements. Imagery has
been delivered and is being used by the Fairbanks
and Delta Junction field offices.
22USDA-NRCS Orthoimagery
FY 2005 Statewide Landsat NRCS purchased 15
meter natural color Landsat for the entire state
for 14,000 dollars. Imagery is licensed to USDA
from Terracolor Inc. and provides a suitable base
map for USDA web-based applications and
conservation planning for large land tracts in
remote portions of the State where hi-resolution
imagery is currently lacking. Hi-resolution
Ikonos Satellite Imagery Licenses for satellite
imagery obtained over 22 Alaska village areas
were uplifted from a single user license to a
non-commercial unrestricted status for a cost of
69,000. This action will allow NRCS to share
this hi-resolution imagery with our partners. A
Cooperative Agreement with the State of Alaska,
Division of Forestry was established to acquire
Spot 5 satellite imagery over a large section of
interior Alaska previously lacking hi-resolution
imagery. NRCS provided 70,000 dollars to fund the
acquisition and ortho-rectification of this
multi-spectral imagery with a ground resolution
of 2.5 meters. Imagery has been acquired and
resides within the public domain.
23USDA-NRCS Orthoimagery
2006 Arctic Slope Research Corporation (ASRC) -
1.42 Million was awarded by NRCS to ASRC to
acquire satellite imagery over 92 Areas of
high-interest (villages, etc) and 1500 targets in
bush Alaska. The primary purpose of this
acquisition was to support Alaskas inclusion
into the annual National Resources Inventory
(NRI) process. The imagery will also provide an
important base map for conservation planning and
engineering efforts throughout rural Alaska.
Imagery under development for the villages will
meet National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS) at
the 112,000 scale, while more remote
acquisitions will meet NMAS at the 124,000
scale. Delivery of this 1 meter color imagery is
expected to be staged over a 4 year period
beginning in 2006. Village imagery will carry a
license from Digital Globe that will allow NRCS
to share it with our partners. APFO Alaska IDIQ
contract. NRCS Alaska obligated 375,000 dollars
to the Aerial Photography Field Office (APFO) to
acquire conventional color film based digital
ortho-photography quadrangles (DOQs) over
developed portions of Interior Alaska. Imagery
will be natural color film based with a final
ground resolution of 0.6 meters. The initial
award has been expanded to include a total of 74
full size quads. An additional task order to
acquire 41 DOQs over Afognak Island has been bid
and is likely to be awarded soon. This purchase
was supplemented with an additional 50,000
dollars from national funds to support a
progressive soil survey on the island. Once
acquired, all imagery will reside within the
public domain. Bristol Bay Borough Cooperative
Agreement NRCS committed 30,000 dollars in a
cooperative agreement with the State of Alaska
and Bristol Bay Borough to develop 1 foot
resolution color ortho-photography in
Southwestern Alaska. The contract was awarded in
the spring of 2006 and survey work for ground
control commenced in the summer of 2006. Once
developed, all imagery will be in the public
domain.

acquisitions. - Uplift existing tier-2 / civil
government licenses for imagery over Alaskan
village. - Partner with the University and
State DNR in the development of a strategic plan
in support of a statewide mapping effort. -
Improved DEMS, a network of ground control, and a
state clearinghouse for archive and distribution
of products are essential. - Acquire additional
imagery over remote NRI PSUs where needed -
