Title: What Are Fairy Tales Really Saying

1
What Are Fairy Tales Really Saying?
  • We use fairy tales to teach young children
morals however, these fairy tales instill
negative stereotypes of girls, reinforce racism,
and expose children to strong sexual innuendos.

2
Why I Chose My Topic
  • I chose my topic because I was interested in
finding out whether the rumors of hidden images
and messages were in fairy tales. I found that
there was much more than just hidden sexual
    innuendos.

3
What is a Fairy Tale?
  • Expert opinions- There may be a supernatural or
magical being, a sort of "fairy substitute,".
Therefore, stories with genies, ogres, imps,
wizards, brownies, witches, sorcerers, or fairies
    are all fairy tales.
  • My opinion- generally stories of enchantment. A
fairy tale is typically a story about something
that would not usually happen in real life, such
as animals that can talk to humans.

4
How Fairy Tales Got Started
  • Fairy tales were never meant for children. They
were originally a form of adult entertainment.

5
How Fairy Tales Have Changed
  • Changed from hearing them orally, to reading
    them, to watching them.
  • Fairy tales have changed, but not entirely.

thing a girl who gossips is a boreYes, on land
it's much preferredFor ladies not to say a
wordAnd after all, dearWhat is idle prattle
    for?
  • Come onThey're not all that impressed with
conversationTrue gentlemen avoid it when they
canBut they dote and swoon and fawnOn a lady
who's withdrawnIt's she who holds her tongueWho
    gets her man
