Management
  • The Finance major program is designed to
    prepare a student for a career in finance in
    large corporations, small businesses, banks,
    brokerage firms, insurance companies, real estate
    firms and many more.
  • Offers students an opportunity to study the
    financial functions in business firms, financial
    systems, and financial markets as well as the
    roles of commercial banks, investment and
    security firms, and other financial institutions.
  • Students may also choose concentrations in real
    estate or risk management insurance.

  • The major objective of the Management program
    is to train competent administrators for service
    in a wide variety of organizations such as public
    or private, product or service oriented, profit
    or not-for-profit.
  • Management students will be introduced to areas
    such as personnel/human resource management,
    industrial relations, production management and
    entrepreneurship.
  • Supply chain management is a total systems
    approach to delivering manufactured products to
    the end customer (buyers, risk management
    analysts, logistics planners).

  • Marketing students study the way in which
    products and services are organized, executed,
    publicized, and distributed to consumers within
    an organizations goals.
  • Careers in personal selling and sales management,
    retail merchandising and management, marketing
    management, marketing research and promotional
    strategy, and management.
  • Knowledge of product design, advertising,
    pricing, consumer behavior, and distribution
    management is essential to the job because of the
    direct contact with customers.

Engineering Route to Business (ERB)
  • Blends mathematics, science, and business
    administration as well as the management of
    technological, engineering, and scientific
    enterprises.
  • Prepares graduates for management and sales
    positions in high-tech and engineering companies,
    manufacturing, and consulting (they will not be
    licensed Engineers).

International Business
Ranked 7 by US News (2002)
  • Solid basic business education (specialty in an
    area of business), international dimensions of
    business, specialty in one major world region
    with a language and direct overseas experience
    (required study abroad). Prepares students for
    entry into the global workforce in government,
    international trade, global business operations
    and planning.
  • Most careers are found domestically, with some
    travel overseas with assignments after a few
    years. Job opportunities are greatest at
    corporate headquarters.

  • Prepares a professional who can fully
    appreciate the complexity of information system
    design.
  • Students engage in the study of computer
    science and business practices simultaneously
    which prepares them for a career in which they
    will serve as a link between a business needs
    and the technology that meets those needs.
  • Accounting firms, oil companies, computer
    corporations and consultants (and more) hire MIS
    graduates.

  • Accounting students develop a broad overall
    education, solid grounding in the common body of
    business knowledge, and a rigorous understanding
    of accounting.
  • An accounting major prepares students to
    record, analyze and interpret financial
    transactions, statements and reports in order to
    aid in decisions regarding budgets, taxes, and
    audits, as well as creating systems to track
    financial activity.
  • Students are prepared for a wide variety of
    professional opportunities, including entry-level
    positions in public accounting, private/industry
    accounting and not-for-profit accounting,
    including government accounting.

  • The Professional Program in Accounting is a
    five-year program leading to both the B.B.A.
    degree and the Master in Professional Accounting
    (M.P.A) degree.
  • In this special program, students may choose a
    general track or one of the following areas of
    specialization
  • 1) auditing and financial reporting
  • 2) taxation
  • 3) management accounting and control
  • Historically, P.P.A. students have enjoyed a high
    degree of success on the Certified Public
    Accounting examination, and have received
    advanced or accelerated career opportunities in
    accounting.
  • Students apply after their Sophomore year.
  • Most graduates accept jobs with CPA firms, and
    others take positions with industry, banking and
    finance, or not-for-profit organizations.
