• United States Coast Guard Veteran
• Earned a Masters Degree in Political Science from
  the University of California and taught their
• State Senator for six years in Utah

• Teaching at various colleges in Utah, California
  and in Michigan
• President of different Universities

• Chairman of the Board for Borgess Health Alliance
• Forester (enjoyed backpacking)

• President from 1974-1985
• Taught for 5 years after retiring at WMU
• Worked with the Kalamazoo Symphony and the Civic
• Encouraged financial integrity
