Super Y League Vision
The Des Moines Menace Academy (Academy) desires
to be recognized as a top soccer club in the
Midwest, allowing all players the opportunity to
reach the highest level of play they aspire to
achieve. The ability to execute an appropriate
organizational structure, player development
initiatives and professional standards will be
instrumental to our future success. The Menace
realize that the individual player, in order to
recognize their full potential, must continually
play a high level of competition. The Super Y
League was created to allow the best players to
play each other on a consistent basis. The
success of the Super Y league has been recognized
as evident by the college scouting participation
at matches and the recent granting of Olympic
development status.

Youth Plan
The Youth Plan characterises the identity of the
club. Without the youngest there ultimately will
not be a club. Develop and nurture the young as
soon as possible. Let them be part of the club
with enjoyment and many learning moments. Lay the
ground stone of all soccer skills with players
from 6/7/8 years of age and they will show
dramatic improvement. But the road to the end
product is long and windy, with many ups and
downs. A Youth Plan sets down what a club desires
to achieve within the soccer development of
players from 6 up to 18 years of age. That is a
very long period 12 years of coaching, and every
step along the way is vital. To coach and teach
the correct things one needs to understand the
mechanics of children from a physiological
(body), as well as from a psychological (mental)
point of view. These characteristics are
constantly acting with and against each other.
The general age characteristics follow the
pattern in the following table

YEAR PLAN
ANNUAL OPERATION (PERIODISATION PLANS)   The
periodisation plan (year plan) is generally
broken down into the following units Ø
general preparation period I Ø       specific
preparation period I 6-8 weeks Ø       game
preparation period I 5 ½ months Ø
game period I 3-4 months Ø       break 2-3
weeks Ø       specific preparation period II Ø
game preparation period II 4 weeks Ø
game period II 3-4 months 5 ½ months Ø
tapering off period 2-3 weeks Ø       break 1
month   The various units are not separate from
one another, but flow into each other. Therefore,
some can be combined into one period (especially
after the mid-season break). This is further
illustrated in the next diagrams, that show the
various models
