  • Six years, to 2012
  • Option for a transition year
  • Replaces Vocational and Technical with Career
    and Technical
  • Keeps a separate funding stream for Tech Prep,
    although states may choose to consolidate funds

Consolidation Option
  • Tech Prep funds are consolidated with the main
    grant
  • They are no longer separate and are allocated
    with regular funds
  • No separate performance accountability and
    reporting is required
  • Also consolidated are the state level Admin and
    Leadership funds

New Tech Prep Student Definitions
  • Secondary Has enrolled in two courses in the
    secondary component of a Tech Prep program
  • Postsecondary Has completed the secondary
    component and has enrolled in the postsecondary
    component of a Tech Prep program

Accountability
  • Consortiums must enter into agreements with the
    state to meet performance levels for each
    performance measure
  • If not met for three consecutive years, funds may
    be terminated

Performance Indicators
  • Number of secondary and post-secondary Tech Prep
    students
  • Number and percent of secondary T-P students who
  • Enroll in postsecondary education
  • Enroll in postsecondary education in the same
    field or major as the secondary program
  • Earn a state or industry-recognized certification
    or licensure
  • Earn concurrent postsecondary credit
  • Enroll in remedial math, writing, or reading
    courses upon entering postsecondary education

  • Number and percent of postsecondary T-P Students
    who
  • Are placed in a related field of employment
    within 12 months of graduation from the Tech Prep
    program
  • Earn a state or industry recognized certificate
    or license
  • Complete a two year degree or two year
    certificate within the normal time for completion
  • Complete a baccalaureate degree program with the
    normal time for completion
