Activities
  • Hands on classroom activities
  • Work in groups and look at each of their
    classmates names and notice the vowels and how
    many there are in their names.
  • Make a song with the entire class and assign one
    vowel to each group the must draw, color, and cut
    out the vowel to put it on display on the
    Authors Wall
  • Technology Activities
  • Go to the following link and Listen to the short
    vowels poems then in class discussion the
    students should be able to give me an example of
    a word that contains the short vowel sounds of
    each vowel.

Other Activities
  • Teach the students a song about vowels to make it
    easier for them to remember the vowels.
  • Assign the students to look at their families
    names and see which one has the most vowels, but
    first to say the word and make a guess of what
    name they think will have the most vowels.
