Clements
  • The first two years of undergraduate study was at
Shorter College, Rome Georgia. After two years
duty with Uncle Sam, I returned to Shorter and
completed a BA degree in art with a minor in
    music.
  • A graduate assistantship was offered at East
Tennessee State University at the Carroll Reese
Museum. This led to a 2-year study and resulted
in a degree in art ( MA ).
  • After graduate school, I started teaching art in
Baxley, Georgia and then in Albany, Georgia
(public schools). Then a switch was made to a
private school, Woodward Academy in Atlanta
(College Park) where I taught art and drama.
During this time in public and private schools, I
also taught adult art education and art classes
at Brewton Parker College, Albany Jr. College and
    Clayton Jr. College.
  • From Woodward, I entered the business world for
several years. During this time, I managed as few
as 10 employees and as many as 65 employees.
After two downsizings and one business closure, I
returned to teaching. My certification had
expired, so I became a substitute teacher and
took classes in special education and Praxis for
    re-certification. During this time a para-pro
resigned and I took that position for the second
half of the year. This led to my current position
    as special education teacher.
  • My music and art training is still utilized. My
wife is the choir director and I am the pianist
at Piedmont UMC. I give private piano lessons
during the school year and art lessons during the
    summer.
