  • LEAD Scholars was created in 1995
  • Two year leadership development program for first
    and second year UCF students
  • UCFs first Rhodes Scholar was a LEAD Scholar
  • LEAD Scholars has been named the top leadership
    training program in Florida
  • LEAD Scholars prepares students to go into
    various different careers
  • LEAD Scholars Creed To LEARN, to LEAD, to SERVE

Advantages for Program Participants
  • Extensive leadership training
  • REEL Retreat (pre-college retreat for incoming
    first-year students)
  • LEAD Scholars residence hall on campus
  • Scholarships
  • Two hundred dollar stipend each semester, along
    with opportunities to apply for scholarships only
    available to LEAD Scholars
  • Assistantship program (internship program for
    current LEAD Scholars)

To LEARN
  • Students enroll in leadership classes each
    semester they are in the program
  • All first-year students take a Introduction to
    Leadership class
  • Each first-year student will be matched with a
    second-year student mentor to guide their first
    semester

  • Students can become leaders in LEAD Scholars
    student organizations
  • LEAD Students Association (LSA)
  • Leadership Excellence Board (LEB)
  • Prepares students to be leaders in the 300 clubs
    and organizations at UCF including
  • ½ of Order of Pegasus
  • 80 students in Burnett Honors College
  • 70 of Presidents Leadership Council
  • Almost 40 of Orientation Team

To Serve
  • LEAD Scholars participated nearly 20,500
    service hours last year alone
  • At least 3 service projects per week
  • Can work with children, animals, the elderly,
    homeless, environmental issues, and much more!

Application Process
  • Complete application by May 4, 2007 including
  • Resume
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Essay
  • Project
  • About a week after complete application is
    received, interview over the phone with a current
    LEAD Scholar
  • Competitive committee review by current students
    and staff
  • Should know status of application about 2 weeks
    after phone interview
