Goal of the Conference Dear Sir/Madam, On
behalf of ASD Secretary General Mr François
Gayet, it is a great pleasure to invite you to
the STACCATO Final Forum. STACCATO is a European
project funded by the European Commission under
the Preparation Action for Security Research
(PASR) 2004-2006. The project aims at proposing
methods and solutions for the creation of a
security market and a structured supply chain in
Europe by identifying implementation
measures. STACCATO project is mapping existing
competencies in the EU-27, highlighting the role
of SMEs in order to integrate their innovation
potential and examine ways to undertake a
coordination of the European Security and
Technological Industrial Base (STIB), proposing a
methodology for technological watch, and
analyzing the condition and propose
recommendations to develop a common European
Security Equipment Market (ESEM) by identifying
common needs, taking into account regulatory
issues and coordination with regional, national,
international and EU security research
programmes. These activities are supported by an
enlarged multi-sector stakeholders platform
composed of users, industries, SMEs, academia and
think tanks of the EU-27 based on the SeNTRE and
ESRAB (European Security Research Advisory Board)
experience. In this framework, a Final Forum
will be organised in Brussels on the 24th of
April 2008. Industry, SMEs Think Tanks, Research
and Technology Organizations (RTOs), Academia and
End Users are invited to participate in this
process on the basis of their fields of
competence.

  • How to get there?
  • From Airport Brussels Airport Zaventem
  • Transfer by Bus There is a cheap (approx 3
    Euros) shuttle bus (Line 12) from the airport to
    the City, get off at Schuman. See
    www.stib.irisnet.be/FR/37000F.htm for further
    information. From the Schuman stop, walk along
    Wetstraat (Rue de la Loi). The Charlemagne
    building is on the right-hand side.
  • Transfer by Taxi A taxi from the Airport takes
    about 10-20 minutes and costs 20-25 Euros.
  • Transfer by Train Take the shuttle from the
    airport to the Centre of Brussels to Central
    Station (Gare Centrale). The trains leave in
    intervals of approx. 15 minutes. Then follow the
    instructions from the Train Station, via the
    Metro to Schuman.
  • From Train Station Central Station (Gare
    Centrale) via Metro to Schuman
  • At the Gare Centrale take the underground (Metro)
    in the direction of Stokkel or Herrmann-Debroux.
  • 5 stops on, leave the metro at Schuman
  • From Schuman, walk along Wetstraat (Rue de la
    Loi). The Charlemagne building is on the
    right-hand side.
