ISSUES Teachers rarely have time to spend in
training, and even less for topics such as game
design. SOLUTION While DC is a great model,
particularly for the front-end analysis, the
demands of this audience require a more rapid
development and implementation. Dr. J.M.
Carrolls Minimalist ID Model addresses training
risks and constraints of this audience. DESIGN
FOCUS Training for computer users TRAINING
FOCUS More with the product, less with the
documentation
THE BIG QUESTIONS. Where do the two models meet?
Where do they diverge? Are they compatible?

4. Lessons LearnING
  • Reverse engineering my own work has been
eye-opening!! I started the TxG in 2001, with
very little teaching experience and self-teaching
the Moodle LMS along the way.
  • Experience skill set from the Museum Field
Multimedia has been crucial (e.g. adult training,
    media skills, workshop timelines)
  • More ORGANIZATION TEMPLATES up front help me
    INNOVATE more along the way.
  • Using Content Management Systems (Drupal, Joomla)
and Learning Management Systems (Moodle) offer
ability for rapid development easy maintenance
    (and shared!)

5. Projected Completion (5 Weeks?)
OPTIMISTIC! 5 years of research, student
examples, tutorials, testimonials, experience to
start with. Just need to organize deliver more
effectively.

6. Concerns or Issues for the Class
  • ACTION PLAN DETAILS How are you handling
objectives that share the same materials/tools or
have the same outcome? Do you list them
    separately and repeat the information?
  • MERGING ID MODELS DC CARROLL
  • GUINEA PIGS NEEDED Since I am not employed in a
school, it is challenging to get live educator
feedback. One area of interest is teacher and
student perspectives on gaming in education
    whether participants or not.
  • Would anyone be willing to participate in a few
    educator surveys?
  • Would anyone be interested in evaluating my
materials in a classroom or online training
    environment?
