Discussion topic Group 1
  • You have just joined the firm as an IT engineer.
On your first week of work, your boss calls you
into his office. He believes that some of your
senior colleagues are using the Internet for
purposes other than work. He asks you to monitor
what they are doing, check their email, which
websites they go to and what they download. You
believe that this is not part of your job
description. However, he is ultimately the boss.
  • Do you carry out the job or do you refuse to
do it? Why? Come to an agreement with all your
    group members.

22
Discussion topic Group 2
  • You are a finance officer in Sky Technologies and
your close friend is working with you as an
office administrator. Your boss, in trust, has
just told you that many of your colleagues will
be laid off, your close friend included. However,
your boss has told you to keep the information a
secret as she is afraid that any news about it
will cause your colleagues to complain or stop
    working immediately.
  • You know that your close friend is closing a
deal with an architect and contractor to do a
major house renovation tomorrow. He is going to
use a large part of his salary to upkeep a loan
    from the bank.
  • Do you inform your close friend about the
soon-to-be layoff and dishonour your boss trust
or do you keep quiet about the whole thing? Why?
Come to an agreement with all your group members.
