    issue of abortion.

    on the situation.
  • Three specific religions views and the teachings

Catholic Church Views
  • catechism teaches that all human life is sacred
    and abortion is a sin.
  • Abortion is morally evil and the consequence is
    automatic excommunication.
  • The Doctrine of Double Effect protects the mother
in case of emergency because there is no real
intention of an abortion it is the intention of
saving the pregnant womans life (indirect
    abortion).
  • Doctrine of Double Effect is the idea that one
action is taken to achieve one effect knowing
this may have other effect and no one can be
blamed for the other effects taking place.

Buddhist Views
  • dealing with the issue of abortion there are a
    few principles to be considered.
  • There are three types of Buddhist belief.
  • The absolutists think bad karma comes from
    killing or murder.
  • Utilitarianism believes murder may be a
compassionate act, positive karma is produced,
being a mothers heath, population crisis or a
parents ability to raise a child.
  • Viruists believe the attitude and motivations of
the pregnant woman will determine the ethics of
    an abortion.

7
Islam Views
  • Quran condemns the killing of born and unborn
    children.
  • Some people argue that the fetus has no soul for
four months so an abortion is allowed in the
    first four months.
  • An abortion is allowed to save the mothers life.
  • The mother is the origin of the fetus, she has a
    well-established life.
