Measures and Dimensions..
  • Measures
  • Look at Sales by Customers (Numerical)
  • Stored in fact tables (physical tables).
  • Examples Sales amount, Shipping amount etc.
  • Dimensions
  • Look at Sales by Customers
  • Stored in relational tables called dimensional
    tables.
  • Example Product, Time, Geography, etc.
  • Contains Attributes, Hierarchies, and Members.

  • Dimension Attribute
  • Table Column
  • Example Product dimension, ProdName, ProdColor,
    etc.
  • Members
  • Actual data value in an attribute.
  • Example ProdName Bike, Shirt, Bike Stand,
    Helmet etc.
  • Hierarchies
  • Formed by Attributes.
  • Contain single or multi LEVELS. Example Color is
    single level and Time (Year, Quarter, Month) are
    multi level
