3
Goals
  • We want to
  • Publish a Photo book that represents the work of
the Cathay Camera Club members over the last few
    years
  • Give away the book to club members and friends of
    the club (target group)
  • Avoid using club funds (self-financed)
  • Launch the book at the Annual Exhibition (prob.
    October 2009)

4
The team
  • Currently a working group meets bi-weekly
    consisting of
  • Stephanie, Anders, Bernhard, Mimi, William,
    Michael (project lead)
  • Dave will coordinate the layout
  • Ben (Chairman) will observe and monitor to ensure
    the clubs interest
  • Printer to be formalized, but probably John
    Leung
  • Editor tbc, but should be an independent
    artistic authority

5
Current Status
  • So far we
  • Have visited John Leung (Printer)
  • Considered both Offset print (fixed edition) or
    inkjet (print on demand)
  • proposed A4 size book, with a maximum of four
images per spread (two per page)
  • Estimated the size to be probably under 100 pages
in total (depending on the actual members
    participation
  • Estimated the Edition to be limited to 500 to
    1000 books
  • Not decided on a Format Landscape or Portrait
  • Prefer Glossy paper paper weight about 100 to
    150g

6
Current Status
  • We have agreed that
  • The book can contain both color and monochrome
images (even on the same page)
  • Layout will be based on a 2x2 grid per page,
where a minimum of two grid fields have to be
    filled by one picture
  • Text will be provided by the Chairman
(Introduction, short history of the club) and
maybe one or two professional photographers
    (short essay)
  • Book will not be marketed or sold publicly (no
cost for ISBN and an external publisher)
  • Expenses will be covered by the participating
    members
